[Lost in a Nightmare]

In another thread, I posted about an epic campaign I played while playing Medieval 2, but I decided to start a new one just to show you guys what Medieval 2 - Kevorkian Edition looks like. It's definitely an interesting way to play for sure, and I'm hoping to tell a story here about the progress of my Right to Die Society. For the sake of gameplay, I chose Scotland because it's a very weak faction in the early game, kind of like the Right to Die communities in real life are, but it will get stronger with time.

Here is the starting position:



As you can see here, I have 2 armies outside of my capital city, as well as a few agents: my first Euthanasia Doctor, my spy, and my diplomat. The kingdoms to the south and north are ruled by Forced Lifers and their capital cities are York and Inverness. I've also got a small navy over to the left as well.



This is my Euthanasia Doctor, Dr. Brian Maknab. He pretended to be a priest and fooled the Pope so well he became a Cardinal, but he is still at the end of the day the Jack Kevorkian of my society. We just can't let the Pope find out lol.



Here's my Spy. I'm going to send him to the south to spy on York and see how many units they have defending the territory.



And here is Prince Edward and his Mercenary Army!





He is going to attack York the first chance he gets, but unfortunately getting there is quite a journey for his troops.



And this is my King! He doesn't have much authority, but if he fights against the Forced Lifers, he will gain more respect by his people. Also, as you can see, Dr. Maknab has moved into Edinburgh to help people die in his Euthanasia Clinic.



Anyway, this is all the files I can attach for now, so we will see what people think of this.

Okay, I'm going to see if I can continue this thread. I have more pictures to share, but they have to be placed in a separate post because 8 images is the limit per post. Anyway, I want to show a little bit more of what my society looks like before Turn 1 Ends and we go to war with the Forced Lifers.



Here you can see we are constructing a Port to help with trade and give our Navy a good place to dock. Since our Euthanasia Doctor uses a Peaceful Tea that he mixes up for his patients (it has a pleasant fruity flavor and offers those who drink it a peaceful way out of life if they choose), if we trade with other countries and form alliances with them, we can trade the ingredients for this tea with them among other goods, which will not only help the economy, but help people in other countries who wish to exit life the peaceful way.



Now we're recruiting new units to defend our territory from foreign invasion, while also providing our armies with more troops to fight against the Forced Lifers and their kingdoms/empires.



King Malcolm has joined the army so he can fight the Forced Lifers to the north. This will help him gain more respect from the people, while also strengthening our small nation and providing a way out of life for people living in Inverness who are miserable and want access to Dr. Maknab's services.



Edmund Canmore is King Malcolm's Second in Command here! He's a youngin, but as you can see, he is decently loyal to The Right to Die society we have here.



The army didn't quite make it all the way to Inverness but they are close to the Castle there. It will be a challenging battle to capture it, but it's worth it!



And here is our Diplomat! He isn't the best at diplomacy, but he will get better with time. He just has to offer foreign nations trade rights and map information which they find quite generous normally.



Patrick Macdougall the Diplomat is heading south towards England, which is a united country that is more powerful than the surrounding kingdoms. We shall see soon enough if they are Forced Lifers, or if they will adopt The Right to Die as a philosophy like our nation has. We will first offer them trade rights and map information before seeing if they are okay with an alliance. It's difficult to know if they will betray us or not. If they attack, it means they are Forced Lifers and we will fight against them tooth and nail if we have to.

Now we move onto Turn 2! Amazing things will happen in the next couple of turns, so let's see how things go! Even if nobody replies to this thread, at least I'm having fun posting here. Feel free to leave a comment if anyone wants to, or don't if you don't feel like it, no pressure.



The Council of Nobles requests that our King and his army liberate the people of York, who are being oppressed by a Forced Lifer regime that denies people the right to choose for themselves whether they live or die. The people in charge of this territory call themselves Pro-life, but we know what they really are don't we?



And here we have our diplomat Patrick Macdougall meeting with Prince Rufus of England to discuss trade between the citizens of our countries. We will share not only goods with each other, but also knowledge contained within the Peaceful Tea Scrolls. Perhaps later we can discuss an alliance with this country, once we've decided where they stand on all things Right to Die.



And the deal was made!



And now Prince Edward is attacking York. His orders are to liberate the people of the city from their Forced Life oppressors and share Dr. Maknab's services with them. Perhaps soon they can build their own Euthanasia Clinic and get a doctor of their own.



And in the next post, Prince Edward will duke it out with the tyrant named Hubert, who is well-known for his anti-choice policies regarding people ending their lives, and his enactments of those policies aren't pretty. Rather than making his own society better, he simply banned all peaceful methods and made it as difficult as possible for people to exit the hard way. Hubert has some loyal subjects, but not many. This should be an easy battle.

I wish you could've visited Scotland in real life too. This game really is fun but it takes some getting used to. It can be very challenging at first figuring out what all the different scrolls do. I mostly find the diplomacy of the AI factions interesting.

The alliances they form and the wars they fight are always different. It makes every campaign unique. Also going on crusades can be really fun too, but it sucks when you have to travel really far to get where the crusades are because you often lose military units to desertion.

my room mate and some other people from my theatre went, but i couldn't afford it. they got to perform a play there though which was cool, i got to see one of their dress rehersals here before they left and it was really cool.

thats cool that its different each time. i like games that have different endings and stuff.

Okay time for the story to continue! This post will be The Battle of York Part 1



This is Prince Edward's army outside of York. Hubert the Tyrant is waiting inside with his forces. The odds of a victory are quite high, but in the heat of battle, anything could happen!



And here we have Hubert's troops waiting in the town square. These Spearmen are very dangerous! That's why Prince Edward sent in the archers to hit them from a distance.



And here we have the peasants armed with pitchforks charging at the archers, who are trying to escape while the Irish Kerns charge in to throw their javelins.



The first wave of Edward's infantry is charging in!



And now Edward's forces get ready to do battle in the streets. This could get dicey!



And now Edward's forces clash with the enemy.



Unfortunately the Irish Kerns were overwhelmed and were forced to flee, so Prince Edward is sending in more troops. This time he's sending in Spearmen and Highlanders (who are dangerous axe-men). And that's it for Part 1. In the next post, we will see how the battle progresses.

The Battle of York Part 2 - Here we go!



And now Edward's Highlanders and Spearmen are clashing with Hubert's Spearmen. Despite being up against a bigger army, the defending troops have a lot of confidence.







And now Prince Edward is ordering his cavalry to circle around the town so they can flank the enemy from the sides. The infantry are struggling and need all the help they can get.



And now Prince Edward is charging into the battle with his Bodyguard Cavalry Unit!



And here we can see Prince Edward in action! He's the guy with the blue feathers on his helmet.



And with Prince Edward's help, his forces managed to slay the Tyrant! Hubert has fallen!

The Battle of York - The Conclusion



Prince Edward backed off a little bit so he wouldn't die, but his infantry units are still fighting Hubert's troops.



And then Prince Edward attacks again! The battle is nearly over!



And now Prince Edward's forces go all in! A couple units have run away, but most of the army is ready to engage!







And Prince Edward is victorious! The Forced Lifers of York have been defeated!



And Prince Edward occupies the town! He could've sacked it or exterminated the population, but since his orders were to liberate the people of York, he went with the option of Occupying the town. This will help the people of this territory adopt our Right to Die beliefs and add an ally to our nation!



And Prince Edward successfully completed the mission created by the Council of Nobles! Our Right to Die Society has been rewarded with 4 units of Spear Militia at the Capital city!

Now that the Battle of York is over, let's see how we do in the aftermath.



Since Prince Edward went easy on the citizens of the town, he lost some of his negative character traits. He was known as being quite dreadful to his enemies in the past, but now he's got a better reputation.



And here is Prince Edward temporarily governing the town of York.



To help the people who joined our cause, he ordered that a wall be built around the town to protect it.



Meanwhile, King Malcolm and Edmund Canmore still have Inverness under siege and they are building ladders so their troops can climb the walls! In the next post, we will see how this battle goes.

And now it's time to prepare for the next battle.



In Edinburgh, another unit of Town Militia is recruited by orders of the King, while he is away besieging Inverness.



4 Units of Spearmen were requested to join the battle, to better reinforce King Malcolm's forces. Climbing the walls to attack will result in heavy casualties more than likely, so the more units he has the better.





And the Port is completed.



And now King Malcolm is ready to attack.



Eoin is the name of the ruler in the castle at Inverness. He has similar Forced Life policies to the ones Hubert had in York. It would explain why they were allied with each other until the town of York was taken. And in the next post, the battle will begin!

And now it's time for The Battle of Inverness Part 1



And here is King Malcolm's army outside of Inverness in the rain. They are prepared for battle and are ready to set the ladders up against the walls.





Despite the heavy rain, the archers on both sides of the walls managed to fire flaming arrows at each other. This is quite brutal!







And Eoin sends some of his troops through the gate to fight King Malcolm's troops outside of the city. This was a very daring move, as it put them in direct fire from the archers.



And King Malcolm's troops made it on top of the walls!



And this is the last image I can share in this post. The battle on top of the walls is going to be very brutal, but we will see in the next couple of posts how the battle progresses. Remember, this is King Malcolm fighting for the Right to Die! This belief is the cornerstone of his society and his goal is to liberate those who are oppressed by Forced Lifers everywhere!

Now that I got some sleep after working all night, I can continue with The Battle of Inverness Part 2!



More Spearmen climb the ladders to get onto the walls. The battle intensifies!









And now the cavalry move in as King Malcolm and Edmund Canmore advance!





And now our forces are pouring into the settlement! Soon we will capture the gateway!



And that's all for now. The gateway has been captured and soon Eoin and his Forced Life policies will come to an end. Once this happens and the people of Inverness are liberated, Scotland will have another ally in our fight for The Right to Die!

And now for The Battle of Inverness Part 3!



Now that the gateway has been captured, King Malcolm's forces can pour into the settlement much easier.



And the soldiers fight in the city streets as King Malcolm invades the castle!





King Malcolm circles around inside the walls of the settlement so he can attack the enemy forces from behind.



And here we can see King Malcolm and his bodyguards in action!



And his forces continue to fight against Eoin in the streets and the town square.



And a flash of lightning illuminates the battlefield!



And King Malcolm closes in on the enemy. That's all the images I can share for now, so the next post will be the conclusion of this battle.

The Battle of Inverness - The Conclusion



Eoin fought bravely, as did King Malcolm's troops, but he was fighting for the wrong cause. Now he has fallen in battle.



King Malcolm took heavy losses in this battle but he still won!



And King Malcolm occupies the castle of Inverness after successfully capturing it. Now the common folks living in the surrounding town will know what it's like to have the ability to choose their own destiny, whether it be in life or in death. Dr. Maknab will be there for anyone who chooses death and he will provide them with his euthanasia services.



And the people living in Inverness are happy once they learn to stand up for the cause of King Malcolm. Notice how the public order is very high. King Malcolm may not have gained much authority yet, but that's going to change soon.

Now that Inverness has been taken, King Malcolm will have other opportunities to assert his authority and defeat the Forced Life kingdoms that remain around him.



The Council of Nobles has a new mission for The King. Ireland is under the leadership of even more Forced Lifers, and their corrupt leader rules over them from the town of Dublin with an iron fist.



York's first wall has been built. As you can see here, it isn't the most sturdy structure, but it can still help.



And the Navy has nearly sailed around the island to the Port outside of Edinburgh.



And Fearghus Campbell goes south to spy on the border with England, just to see if there is anything nefarious going on.



King Malcolm and Edmund Canmore return to the capital.



And that's all for now. Preparations will have to be made before King Malcolm can liberate the people of Ireland from their Forced Life oppressor. In the meantime, he will focus on making his society and economy better for those who want to live, while Dr. Maknab continues to euthanize those who don't.

And now we move onto Turn 5.



And Patrick Macdougall prepares to board the ships so he can travel to far away places and offer them diplomacy.



And Fearghus Campbell spies on England by going a little further into their territory. This is the only way to decide if they are Forced Lifers, or Pro-choice people like we are.



And these units return to the Capital to not only defend it, but offer support to future battles against any enemies of our Pro-choice Society.





King Malcolm returns to governing the Capital City and he has to decide what to construct for the betterment of our society and economy, with limited amounts of resources.

Now it's time to continue on with the campaign. Turn 6 is next!



The ships sail south to take Patrick to Mainland Europe so he can offer trade rights to more nations.



Fearghus discovers a few English armies around, but so far they are staying in their territory.



There is still a lot of time left for King Malcolm to capture Dublin and complete the mission sent out to him by the Council of Nobles. He will be ready soon.





The people living in Inverness construct their first small Euthanasia Clinic. Soon they will get to have their own doctors! That's all for now, in the next post, Patrick the Diplomat will arrive on the mainland of Europe and King Malcolm will prepare his army to liberate the people of Ireland from their Forced Life oppression.

Here we go with the next post.



On Turn 7, Patrick the Diplomat makes it to mainland Europe near the cities of Bruges and Antwerp.



And the people of Inverness officially have built their first small Euthanasia Clinic. It looks a bit like a chapel to fool the Pope, but in reality it is a building used for helping people exit this life with The Peaceful Tea.



Here we see King Malcolm raising up an army to attack Dublin!





King Malcolm acquires additional reinforcement archers from Inverness!





And in the town of York, Prince Edward has a Town Watch building constructed so the people living in the town can recruit their own troops as an ally of Scotland.

And Fearghus the Spy goes to Caernarvon to spy on the Forced Lifers ruling there. Somehow he has discovered that in Dublin, the town is barely defended. This should be an easy victory for King Malcolm!



Reinforcements from York march north to meet up with King Malcolm for the upcoming battle!



Edmund Canmore feels appreciated for being allowed to govern the Capital City while King Malcolm is away fighting the Forced Lifers. He also has the respect of the common people and this is worth a lot right there.



This is Edmund Canmore! He may be a young governor, but he is loyal to our Right to Die society and is willing to do whatever is best for our country and our people, whether they choose to live or not.



And a new Euthanasia Doctor is recruited, so Dr. Maknab can have an apprentice to teach with his knowledge and experience!



And here is Dr. Maknab, getting ready to receive a new Euthanasia Doctor under his wing! He is getting old and will one day drink the Peaceful Tea himself when he decides he's lived long enough. He believes this is a human right that should be available to all, regardless of which country they are from. Rumors have been spreading about our way of life here in Scotland, and people have been traveling here from FAR AND WIDE to receive his services. That is why we will need more Euthanasia Doctors!



And King Malcolm is closing in on the town of Dublin! Soon he will capture the town and free the people of Ireland from their Forced Life oppression!



Despite the fact that we are lying to the Pope about having Priests and churches instead of Euthanasia Doctors and their clinics to work in, the Pope has an increased amount of trust in Scotland now. We have fooled him well. In the next post, we will see who our newest Euthanasia doctor is!

And now it's time for the next post! Here we will get to see who the newest Euthanasia Doctor is!



Dr. Gille Calline is our newest Euthanasia Doctor in the Capital City! Dr. Maknab will teach him everything he knows about the Peaceful Tea so he can help people escape from life if doing so is their choice!



King Malcolm is getting close to Dublin. Soon he will put the town under siege and attack! The Forced Lifers in the town won't know what hit em until it's too late!



Patrick the Diplomat heads south towards France. Soon he will establish trade with them so the common people can have access to the Peaceful Tea and the scrolls that go with it to advise them on how to mix it, as well as many other goods that our society has.



Prince Edward orders dirt roads to be built in and around York, to help the people travel around if they choose. This will help people who are very sick get to the Euthanasia Clinics that we have as well!



The dirt roads of York have been completed in the next turn.



Now Edinburgh is ready to be upgraded from a large town into a city. The population is growing for the people who want to live still, while our euthanasia services will always be freely available to those who don't. This is our way of life here!



Now King Malcolm has Dublin under siege! Soon he will attack and battle the Forced Lifers! That's all for now. In the next post, King Malcolm will maintain the siege while Fearghus the spy takes a closer look at Caernarvon.

The Battle of Dublin is coming very soon, but first, a few things need to happen.



As we can clearly see here, the people of Dublin are likely to surrender in 2 turns, but the battle will still happen anyway. Sometimes it's nice when the people surrender though, because it means there are pro-choice people in the town or city who are willing to hand over their corrupt leaders to King Malcolm. When the pro-choice people outnumber the Forced Lifers, it's always a good thing.



And here we see Fearghus arriving at Caernarvon. Soon we will see how many forces they have defending the Forced Lifer regime there.





And now it's Turn 11! King Malcolm is getting ready to attack!





Phillip is the tyrant ruling over Dublin. His days of treating his people like property to be owned and forced to live to the bitter end of their natural lives will come to an end in the next few posts!

Now it's time for The Battle of Dublin Part 1!



King Malcolm's forces are outside of Dublin now.



The archers move in to begin unleashing a barrage of arrows upon the Forced Lifers in the town!









The enemy are retaliating against the archers who are now under attack themselves.





The archers are forced to retreat as the enemy army charges out to fight them. Seeing what's happening, King Malcolm sends in his town militia to engage with the enemy infantry. In the next post, we will see how the battle progresses in Part 2.

Let's continue on with The Battle of Dublin Part 2!



The archers continue their retreat as King Malcolm's infantry charge forward. Also, the crossbowmen are getting ready to let loose on the enemy as well.



And now the real fight begins!





Now that the enemy troops have come out of the town, the archers can hit them in the side while the infantry fight.





The enemy forces get pushed back into the town and they are shaken!



More of the enemy's troops come out to face King Malcolm's troops, but they quickly realize that their defeat is imminent!



And that's all the images I can post for now. Soon the battle to enter the town will intensify and Phillip will find himself shaking in his armored boots!

Now for The Battle of Dublin Part 3!



King Malcolm circles around the town so he can attack the enemy from the side.



The Town Militia have taken heavy losses in this battle, so they may need some help soon.





King Malcolm's Irish Kerns get ready to fight against the Forced Lifers themselves! This just proves that there are Irish people who hate the way they are being treated by Phillip and they sided with King Malcolm!







The Irish Kerns end up doing battle with the enemy troops!



The Irish Kerns are struggling against their own people! The Forced Lifers in the town must fall, and soon King Malcolm will send in tougher units in the next part of the battle. Stay tuned! I do wish that in Medieval 2 Scotland could be an Egalitarian society, that way I could have Queens, as well as female governors and generals fighting in the battles as well. A society where the genders are treated equal would be much more interesting, but since this is Medieval 2, this is the best I can do.

The Battle of Dublin Part 4 - Here we go!



Now the Spearmen charge in!



The Irish Kerns quickly get out of the way as the Spearmen enter the battle.



The Spearmen push into the town square!



Now King Malcolm prepares to enter the battle to fight against the Forced Lifers!







King Malcolm temporarily retreats so he can charge his Bodyguard Cavalry unit back in at the enemy!



The Border Horse unit circles around the town so they can also hit the enemy from the side. In the next Post, the battle will continue. This one is very intense!

This is The Battle of Dublin Part 5 - The Forced Lifers in the town are fighting fiercely and do not want to be defeated. It's crazy how hard anti-choice people will fight to the death just so they can keep people alive who don't want to be all because they think it's better to either die in battle or die a horrible natural death.



King Malcolm goes for another cavalry charge against the Forced Lifers of Dublin. Most of his forces are closing in on the town square and soon he will join them.





Here we see that half the enemy army has been defeated, but unfortunately King Malcolm has taken heavy losses himself.



Phillip the tyrant of Dublin has fallen in battle. Never again will he be able to shove his Forced Life views down his people's throats. Soon the people of Ireland will become an ally of the Pro-choice Society of Scotland!



The battle rages on, but is close to being over. Soon Ireland will be liberated and the common people will have the freedom to choose how and when they die, using the Peaceful Tea, anytime they want.





Victory is near! In the next post, King Malcolm will defeat his enemies and the people of Ireland will be liberated!

Now for the Conclusion of the Battle of Dublin.



The remainder of Phillip's troops are fighting to the death.



Here is when the fighting stops and King Malcolm's forces begin to celebrate their hard-fought victory!





King Malcolm occupies the town of Dublin, gaining a new ally in the fight for the Right to Die!



The Council of Nobles rewards the King with 4 units of Mailed Knights at the Capital!



Now that the people of Ireland have been liberated, King Malcolm has gained some more authority. He also is known for being a very chivalrous individual because he went easy on the common people living in Dublin.



That's all for now. Soon Caernarvon will be invaded as well. It's the last Castle ruled over by a Forced Lifer regime that needs to be occupied. When King Malcolm attacks, he believes they will likely surrender without a fight, given the way all of the other kingdoms around him fell to his leadership.

In this Post, King Malcolm and his allies will build up their towns. New infrastructure will help provide the people with additional safety in case of an attack, while also making the people happier. The best part is, even then, if some people still don't want to live, they will always have free access to Dr. Maknab's euthanasia services.



To start with, King Malcolm has a wall built around the town of Dublin.



In York, Prince Edward builds the first Euthanasia Clinic for people who want to die the peaceful way. Never again will the people living in these towns be threatened or forced into staying alive against their will. Even the religious members of our society believe that God is not against people drinking the Peaceful Tea to get out of life. Their belief is that he will welcome them into Heaven with open arms if they are genuinely good people, or simply grant them the peace that nonexistence brings if that is their preference.



Unfortunately, to the south of York, George Cooke has raised up an army to try and take back the town. He is a Forced Lifer like all the rest and is furious at people who would ever DARE to take the peaceful way out of life. He wants them to suffer to the bitter end of their natural lives, except in cases where they die in battle.



Fearghus the Spy moves in to see what George is up to.



And George Cooke has Fearghus Campbell executed for spying on his military camp. His cruel fate must be avenged!



In Dublin, King Malcolm disbands the unit of Boarder Horse. The veterans in this unit took heavy losses in all the battles, so it was time for them to retire and go home.



These are the units defending Dublin from an attack. These units are still quite strong.



Leaving behind a strong garrison in Dublin, King Malcolm returns to the Capital. It's up to the Irish people to look after themselves now. The Scottish soldiers in the town will help with building things, as well as defending in the meantime, but soon the people of Ireland will be able to exist as an independent, but still allied nation. That's all the screenshots I can share for now. In the next post, Patrick the Diplomat will continue traveling around Europe, establishing trade with many foreign nations.

Now I'm ready to make another post in here. Hopefully soon our Right to Die society can experience times of peace for a little while, where our way of life goes unchallenged.



The ships that dropped Patrick off in Mainland Europe sail back towards Edinburgh to dock at the Port.



Patrick the Diplomat meets a Princess from Spain. Let's see how she feels about trade rights.



She sees Patrick's offer of trade rights and map information as generous.



The deal has been made!



In the next turn, the Council of Nobles requests that we send a diplomat to meet with the people of France. Doing so will result in a reward of some new military units.



In the town of York, their first Euthanasia Clinic has been constructed. The Pope thinks it's a church, but it really isn't lol.

These are the faction announcements. Alexander Canmore has come of age and we also see that Prince Edward is still a mean leader, so people still fear him.
