  • Hey Guest,

Today, OFCOM launched an official investigation into Sanctioned Suicide under the UK’s Online Safety Act. This has already made headlines across the UK.

This is a clear and unprecedented overreach by a foreign regulator against a U.S.-based platform. We reject this interference and will be defending the site’s existence and mission.

In addition to our public response, we are currently seeking legal representation to ensure the best possible defense in this matter. If you are a lawyer or know of one who may be able to assist, please contact us at [email protected].

Just curious if anyone is planning on lying or exaggerating in your email/note to possibly make the people you love hurt a little less at the loss they are going to experience. Maybe saying you've been in serious physical pain, are losing cognitive function, or something along those lines. On one hand, it seems really fucked up that lying is the last thing you're doing to a loved one. OTOH, if it makes it easier for them, is it worth it?

I don't know if that would make your loved ones feel better. They might feel angry/upset at themselves that they missed the signs of your 'physical pain' and believe that they could have saved you if they noticed

I don't think most people can be saved from CTB just by family intervention

Most CTB seems to happen because of problems in life that have been here ever since the human beginning

No romantic partner
Not enough money
Just feeling empty because death is inevitable anyway and no matter what you do it won't matter in the end

When many people propose CTB their phone blows up or their inbox about oh don't do this etc

Not really. My note will say "Give my money to Z. I couldn't take the pain and numbness. There was nothing else you could have done." They can't help it if my brain was fucked up. Not my fault if they can't believe that.

I decided to avoid stating the regrets that weigh heavy on my heart. Because if I mention them, people will find a way to blame, shame and feel guilty. Plus my death is not a "statement" or "protest", I genuinely want to die lol

It depends really on how loving the family is and the reasons to CTB, but even if the family couldn't have helped the suicidal person they'll likely never understand that

Your reasons are valid. Hard to predict others' reactions. I'd always prefer to hear the reality, I think that's the only way for one to move on properly. Lies just complicate things, truth sits them in their place. Understanding = healing imo, I get pissed when I'm lied to hueh.

This I find interesting, especially the third one, it applies to all of us, no matter what our situation. I guess it boils down to, even knowing it won't matter in the end, if the experiences until then are worth having.

That's a good way to phrase it

A big part of the reason I want to CTB is because I no longer believe in the idea of progress. Everything that seems to happen in our world just shows that idea is out the window
