I have a severe jaw deformity and sleep issues caused from it, running on 2 hours of quality sleep max a night. I basically work in a mental hospital 5-6 days a week 12s trying to save to improve my appearance.

The surgeon who took my case was extremely aggressive and started berating / practically yelling at me out of nowhere because of a misunderstanding he had with my orthodontist. I'm a quiet person who does not go around causing conflict.

They told me they'd submit a claim to my insurance and never did for 8 months straight without telling me and just decided to waste over half a year of my life waiting. I called them multiple times asking what was up and they said they were waiting to hear back. After I figured out how to contact my insurance directly they said they never had any claim or even call about me. Called the office twice about this and they said they'd get back and never did both times

After going through the two month process of just getting an appointment with a new surgeon I was met with the same abuse and condescending attitude so I just gave up at that point.

The stress from all this started making my hair fall out and I developed very bad issues with alcohol.

I've definitely wasted my life now I didn't get education because I specifically was waiting until after I fixed the problems with my appearance

My dream is to hike into the forest and let myself be consumed by wildlife so my family will think I moved away or some shit

I would maybe reconsider this plan. It could be unreliable, you can't be certain if you would even encounter any predatory wildlife. It could also be very painful. Some predators will play with their prey, or could potentially just incapacitate you and then leave you to die as not many animals really have humans as natural prey. Could be a long and painful death, or you could potentially just end up getting lost and starving to death (arguably even worse).

Sorry for the confusion, I meant die first then let animals consume me so my body won't be found

I am sorry. I have no advice, but I've suffered from TMD on and off for the last decade, and while I doubt my situation is anywhere near as significant as yours, I can commiserate with how jaw issues can be utterly debilitating. And fucking insurance companies, utter parasites, I'm in a similar boat where they won't pay for diagnostics and or further treatments because the data is vague on how to actually treat TMD, especially since large swaths of the population have deformities to the joint but show no symptoms.

Chronic health issues are the fucking worst, people walk around not understanding how your life can turn into a nightmare through no fault of their own.

This reality is demented.

I presume you're in the US so I don't quite understand how it works with insurance companies. Can you seek out a consultant yourself directly? If you can, don't give up, you need to see a maxillofacial surgeon.

I'm in a similar situation with my jaw. I'm sorry you had to experience such unfair and unprofessional mistreatment from doctors. This world is brutal to people like us.

If I were you, I would still pursue an education, even if it's just online school, trade school, or community college. You deserve a lucrative career regardless of the way you look. You might even be able to afford surgery one day.

I initially put off higher education because I knew I would never get that idyllic college experience full of parties and lifelong friendships, but last year I decided to go anyway. I'm a loner here, and I'm not exactly having fun, but it's something to pour myself into, and hopefully I'll come out the other end with a degree.

P. S. Do you ever wear a facemask? I find that helps my confidence.

I live in a small rural town so I can't mask for my own saftey tbh lol.

But the biggest problem with me is just being obsessively wrapped up in hating my face even if I could hide it I'll still be dealing with the daily mental torment and not being able to make friends / find a partner

That changes things. I hate that masking is considered political now. I totally relate to your second paragraph, though. Hiding doesn't fix the problem.

Have you had a sleep study done? They'll be more willing to operate on you if you have documented sleep apnea/hypopnea. Avoid CPAP though as that can make it worse. Sorry if you already knew all that already.

Yeah insurance approved my surgery years ago. It just has to be submitted again since I had to do orthodontics for a while

Hard to find doctors who genuinely care and my case is more complicated than they'd be used to probably because I'm 100% ready for surgery and the surgeon who was going to do my surgery practically dropped me as a patient

Usually they do coordination with the orthodontist months beforehand and make the plans
