Hey everyone, I'd love for some suggestions what should I listen to. I don't mind any genres I'd love to find something new I may like. Just want to have a broader taste in music atm.
my ex was a big deftones fan so i have trouble listening to it without having thoughts of that situation but i dont know of the others so ill for sure give it a listen thank you very much :)Some of my personal favorite bands and artists that I can recommend is Good Morning, Deftones, Car Seat Headrest, and Fail Better, Heal Faster
I will never stop recommending these albums:Hey everyone, I'd love for some suggestions what should I listen to. I don't mind any genres I'd love to find something new I may like. Just want to have a broader taste in music atm.
Woooo~ Another Car Seat Headrest enjoyer :)I will never stop recommending these albums:
Deathconciousness - Have a Nice Life
All Bitches Die - Lingua Ignota (her entire discography is amazing, but a very heavy listen so do take care with this)
Ants From Up There - Black Country, New Road (probably the most accessible of the three so far)
Some other artists to check out:
Car Seat Headrest (my absolute favourite band of all time)
Wolf Alice
Slowdive
My Bloody Valentine
Black Midi
O. (they only have one song released so far, but their live sets are incredible)
Sudden Lights
Kælan Mikla
King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard
Reading this thread causes me to realize I don't have original taste as much as I thought, lol. I'd recommend Pearl Jam, Smashing Pumpkins, The Smiths, Pixies, Sonic Youth, Nine Inch Nails, and Bernard Herrmann (contemporary soundtrack composer that has very versatile styles). I am trying to stay away from tragic figures who have died in unnatural or suicidal ways for my own well-being. But if such people interest you, I'd recommend Elliott Smith, Nick Drake, Mark Linkous, Tim Buckley and his son, Jeff Buckley, Silver Jews, Vic Chesnutt, Joy Division, and The Prodigy. Almost every artist I've mentioned on this list have very different styles of music, though Pearl Jam and Smashing Pumpkins evolved during the grunge era, whereas Pixies and Sonic Youth were alternative rock artists. Smith, Drake, Linkous, the Buckleys, Silver Jews, and Chesnutt are indie (such a broad genre, most of their music cannot be confined to one style). Nine Inch Nails and The Prodigy are diverse metal/industrial bands. The Smiths may have been influenced by Joy Division. Most, if not all, artists on this list are lyrically intricate with original instrumentals and themes. Happy listening.
Thank you so much. I like your profile picture, a very iconic photo of Jeff. I recommend looking at that photo shoot if you haven't already; coincidentally, one of the photos of him, one in which he is eating a banana, slightly resembles a photo of Leonard Cohen, who Jeff covered "Hallelujah" from. Jeff was brilliant. I also like your status(?) which is a song title of a Beatles song. What's your favorite song by Jeff Buckley, if you don't mind me asking? You have great taste :)

Grace is an amazing album. I like the posthumous album too, although the name escapes me at the moment. I like that your status is a Beatles song! I like Sgt. Peppers, favorite album but anything last 1964 I like by them. Anything not teenie-bopper esque, lol. I love Alice In Chains too, can't believe I didn't mention. Not a fan of their new stuff though. You have great taste too! If you listen to the other artists, let me know what you think. Since you like Elliott I think you'll really like the other artists I mentioned. Cool stuff.I'll have to check out the photo shoot, I didn't know about it. And I don't mind you asking at all which Jeff song is my fav, but I don't have an answer haha! I just can't pick one. I pretty much love every song off of Grace, and then there's songs that I enjoy which were released after his death. And yes, my status is a Beatles reference, good catch! In the past two years or so I've gotten super into Smashing Pumpkins and the Pixies. Lately I've been listening to some Elliot Smith, Sonic Youth, and Alice in Chains. All of these bands you mentioned in your post (except Alice) so it was nice seeing them being recognized, and it just so happens they're the exact bands I've been spending a lot of time with recently. I know some of the other artists you mentioned (Smiths, Pearl Jam, Joy Division, NiN) but haven't spent enough time listening to them. Then the others you mentioned I've never heard of. So I'm gonna check them all out!
Thats a good question, what I used to listen too to cheer me up was Baggy Trousers, a silly song but good to Skat-Man by Skat Man John. I've been listening to a Band Called Brick + Mortar and the Album is called Bangs! Check it out. & Elvis Presley is another one. Have a good day.Hey everyone, I'd love for some suggestions what should I listen to. I don't mind any genres I'd love to find something new I may like. Just want to have a broader taste in music atm.
