Venting Living until old age

At this point living to old age is an "achievement" anyone else feel the same?

It's never even entered my mind that I would grow old. I've known most of my life that I would die young (young ish as I'm now 26 ha!)

I don't see it as an achievement myself (maybe some people who just like to live as long as possible because they want to, maybe. Sometimes they may wish to stay around to see what happens in the span of almost a century or more than a century even). For me, I just want to check out while I still can and also life has been overall suffering and hardship and the respites between a long arduous existence of suffering isn't worth it imho.

I have been spending a lot of time with my dad visiting the nursing home he is in. Growing old looks very depressing to me at this point. We are kept alive longer, but in bad condition.

I think it would be an achievement in the fact I never expect to get there, but it won't happen. Even putting the trauma and mental illnesses aside for a moment, my body physically isn't brilliant and I'd hate to watch it deteriorate as I grow older and have less control over my body. Added to the fact you'll probably get to a point where CTB is no longer something you can do independently and it doesn't seem too appealing to me.

The idea is wild to me. Like what happens that makes people willing and able to stick around for that long? How pleasant must life be for someone to keep living even as they get older and begin losing their health or appearance or family or whatever else? Have they just not thought about it?

I don't like the idea of growing old. Becoming frail, too weak to walk just to use the bathroom and the possibility of losing your mind and becoming senile. No thanks, I'd rather die by my own hand when I'm still physically able to.

I wouldn't want to grow old, I don't think. All I can see is watching my loved ones pass on, probable physical illness and pain, and the risk of dementia. Doesn't sound too fun.

I've never thought I'd live passed the age of 50,dont know why it's just always been in my head. From very young, I turned 47 a week ago today so who knows...

Old age seems like a miserable existence. Health begins to decline mid 30. Why look forward to or be proud of living well past ones prime...
