it would be cool to set up a livestream and do it. an archive of my pain on the inter webs for ever
That is a really interesting perspective - and not far off from what I think as well

I watch these videos more than most people probably do. For me, it is for desensitisation purposes due to the fact that I see people who can't handle that stuff as weak and I do not want to be weak in that way, and seeing these people finally find peace makes me feel better than other gore videos and… oddly wholesome, in a way. Also it gives me courage to do it myself, and I guess to see the effects of certain methods first-hand.
I plan to stream my own.

I've seen quite a few, they all made me feel a bit sick watching but did it to see what the pain looks like. Also saw failed attempt by train, ugh.

I feel it is like research. You know what to expect. What is surprising is how quickly people lose consciousness with the full suspension hanging.

I watched the video of the politician who shot himself at a press conference. This took place in 1987, I believe. It was horrific and sad. I wished I never watched it, too.
Ah yes, The An-hero, Budd Dwyer. Gory, gory, What a helluva way to die!

I thought of his suicide when some conservative watchdog group was exposing someone Chris-Hansen style by crowding around him with cameras and microphones in public. Man did a cowardly, embarrassing freak-out that just made him a laughing stock. Now if he did it like Budd Dwyer, fewer people would be laughing.

I've stumbled onto a few such videos. Back in the early days of home internet, it was common to stumble onto such thing. The only one that genuinely upset me was of a man's abusing a puppy in the most horrific way. I'm not an easily perturbed person, but I have no tolerance for child or animal abuse.

I do not recommend watching any gore videos on the internet of CTB. Man did that freak me out 😩
I wish I had not done that.
Honestly, I feel a sort of excitement from those kinds of videos. But I know that's wrong so I try to stay away from them.

The videos dont bother me as much as the nasty vile comments on those sites. People are so desensitized.
Same. Those videos don't phase me because of all the stuff I've been through but the comments are like horrendous. Making fun of the people who died so messed up

I watch them to learn from and what to be prepared for. I think I have learned a lot from it and have changed my plans accordingly.

I think someone may try acquainting with those sites from an innocent perspective of wanting to "gain information on method", but end up left with a bruised mindset. I skimmed few of the sites and was left a little bit nauseous. Just be careful what you expose yourself to, as you can't unsee something. I'm not gonna watch those videos again, I'd rather rely on my imagination of what my method will be like. But gosh, I never knew the world was this messed up.

I used to be obsessed with these videos, made me comfortable and help me realize that everyone dies, the difference is that I get to choose when I die. I have the power to do it, when I want too. Most videos show the comfort the people feel when they do it. They are just done with life.

Those videos don't affect me at all should I be happy or should I be sad?

This. I just see it as a man escaping this dogshit life. As long as his death seems quick, i don't care. I want to leave this planet, so seeing someone do the same doesn't faze me.

Always an odd feeling watching these vids. Ronnie M. was the first ctb vid I watched. It was quite gory, but it wasn't traumatizing, just "memorable". I don't watch those videos often, but when I'm really wanting to ctb, I watch em', and all the gore, violence, and death dosen't really scare me away.

Yeah the suicide video is creepy, but the REAL horror is the comments. Just awful.

RIP

While it is unfortunate those who did not want their deaths filmed had that happen, I believe that those who wish for their deaths to be shared publically should receive their wish.
I agree with you on this.

Choosing to CTB in some public space like streaming or creating a video is a choice like choosing a method. It doesn't have to be analyzed. It's personal. If someone wants to be watched - so be it - it's a choice.

But where it is shown IS an issue, in the same way, you don't want people hanging themselves on children's swings, or jumping from high buildings with pedestrians below, a streamed CTB should not be streamed where children will find it, or adults not looking for it.

And if it shows up on a gore site - well they should have known better.
I saw my dead body dangling on the rope in my mind's eye. My method was full suspension and I watched hanging videos also just about two months ago.
I used past tense because I am not suicidal now.
I think I can relate. I see myself in many of those videos or stills. There is no way around it. If you CTB you will be found like that. It feels like a reality check
