  • Hey Guest,

Today, OFCOM launched an official investigation into Sanctioned Suicide under the UK’s Online Safety Act. This has already made headlines across the UK.

This is a clear and unprecedented overreach by a foreign regulator against a U.S.-based platform. We reject this interference and will be defending the site’s existence and mission.

In addition to our public response, we are currently seeking legal representation to ensure the best possible defense in this matter. If you are a lawyer or know of one who may be able to assist, please contact us at [email protected].

I have a facebook friend whom I confessed that I want to die for a very long time. He tried to convince me otherwise and that it is not the right way of dealing with problems, misfortunes in life and they started teaching me the buddhist ways of meditation and
philosophy as the real solution to all my sufferinh. Forward to now when they are faced with a problem suddenly and all they talk about on their facebook feed how all they want is to die. Life is really funny

It's always like that. When you've never had these thoughts you think other people shouldn't have them.

Human beings are like that, it's normal.

People don't understand suicidality until they are in those shoes.

Reminds me of this bloke:

"The actor Lord Brian Rix has changed his mind to support assisted dying after his terminal illness left him wanting to end his own life. [...] He has previously opposed assisted dying and voted against the 2006 Bill. [...] Lord Rix has now written to the speaker of the House, Baroness D'Souza, asking her to raise the issue again in the House of Lords and detailed how his own experiences of being terminally ill have led him to change his mind."

I certainly did not. Not at all. Just figured suicidal people were crazy and experiencing a state of mind that I could never imagine.

Sounds like the usual "We can't have the plebs choose for themselves." Kind of nonsense. It's a complex subject in a lot of ways but this is just another example of people "benevolently" lacking compassion for others and forgetting they can fall victim to the same circumstances. I have only limited sympathy for people that volunteer others to suffer.

I honestly don't find it funny. It just makes me angry how selfish and lacking in empathy people in general (but especially people like him, who are thankfully dying out) are. They can't expand their minds to other people's experiences - their mindset and view is the only right one. Makes me sick.

You only have to turn the pain dial up high enough, and everyone will break eventually. If someone is still smiling, it's because life hasn't shit on them enough. It can always get worse, people who think there is never a time to ctb are fools.

After all, existence is suffering. Those who say that 'suicide is never an option' are in denial but of course their posistion in life allows them to be delusional. Wanting suicide is perfectly rational in a world as horrible as this. Things can change so quickly in this life and peoples worldview ends up being shattered. Factors out of our control can ruin our lives and cause so much pain. In my opinion it is better to never be born in the first place.
