The NIH data on suicides in the US are a staggering condemnation of our understanding of this as a disease.
This site has posts by only a small slice of the millions of people suffering. This is real data compiled by the CDC and NIH.
The leading cause of suicide is firearm for men and women. It's not suicide discussion groups, "death cults" chemicals people buy from shady dark websites.
People don't come here and gain secret knowledge on the fact that a gun can harm them. Guns are legal and found at sporting good stores.
The cause of suicide isn't forums where shattered lives go to talk about how they feel. The cause of suicide is terrible mental health. What do the overwhelming number of people on this site say they dislike most:. 1) suicide hotlines (they are horribly staffed and the scripts do not help). 2) therapy (cognitive reframing and feelings discussions have a poor success rate among treatment resistant depression 3) being told things will get better and you just can't see it yet.
What will slow suicide rates?
My recommendations are increased access to mental health and a reframing of mental health approaches on a very different scale from today, significant improvement in school counseling to the staffing levels of teachers in public and private education and massive investment in anti bullying efforts.
Otherwise your rates are just going to keep going up. The numbers are increasing and the angry Kelli Karen's of the world are focused on stopping discussion between the very people afflicted with the disease.
These are real data numbers in the curves. The website is the NIH. The crisis is one of mental health not some pseudo fear mongering about death cults or incels. We are men and women for whom the pain exists every waking moment and the inevitable problem will continue to grow as long as the method of treatment is still platitudes and requests to think happy thoughts.
