just thinking about how ppl having access to peaceful/painless suicide is beneficial to loved ones as well. I know a lot of ppl don't want their loved ones to ctb, and I empathize with that. But at the same time, when a friend chooses to, knowing they were able to do so peacefully and painlessly is a comfort. It can be more traumatizing if it isn't. What do y'all think?

Difficult topic.
Often decisions to die are made emotionally. And friends / relatives will hope until the last for your recovery.
but I support allowing euthanasia. This option should be there.

yeah, I even feel like banning nitrogen and stuff is just inhumane. ppl are getting desperate and causing temporary and permanent damage to their bodies. It makes me sad. ppl can't even talk about their suicidal feelings without risking psychiatric/medical abuse. I feel like we as a society deserve better

Yeah sad shit.
How can we be better than that as humans?
I think its just our nature.
Be human - suffer

I personally think it's cultural. There's plenty of cultures that are much more humane towards the mentally ill, many who don't even view it as mental illness. I took a culture and mental health class a long ass time ago and my memory is terrible lol, but I do remember we had a guest speaker who was native american, I can't remember which nation, but she said when someone had depression, they were viewed as wise and seeing a problem the rest of them couldn't. So the community spent time with them to learn what was wrong and how they could evolve and improve things. Don't quote me on this, this is all paraphrasing from something I heard years ago, but that was the general take away I got

Yes, having access to peaceful and reliable methods would be better for everyone, it disgusts me how painless ways to die are restricted and how people very often have no choice but to resort to a more brutal method to end their existence. And it would probably cause those left behind to suffer more if they walk in on a brutal suicide scene and have to find someone that way. I view it as being unacceptable how there is no legalised assisted suicide, having that option would reduce so much suffering.

I don't really care about "loved ones" or how they find the body, I just want easy access to death without all this goddamn juggling. But in a few decades I'm pretty sure the future will be very Soylent Green-ish so the next generations will just go to death centers to become food. Lucky them.
