Don't have to keep it there that long. Breathing through a tube while i wait for the CO to build up until the sensor reads 10,000. After that i just take the tube out my mouth and if my research is correct i should be passed out in a couple breaths and dead within a few minutes.
Only problem is the paradox of door sealing, and getting the charcoal right so it actually reaches 10,000

Is argon gas easy to get? What were their reasons for shooting it down
Yes can be del to your doorstep in us. I've got tons of research on my thread "argon gas?" Couple dudes said it wouldn't work, u can read it n let me know your thoughts
Like most, afraid to fail n have to explain tank, etc and the what if's

That's a good sensor.

Also what's the need to exit/enter the confined space again after ignition? Instead of staying in place, sealing the doorway (from the inside), igniting the coals and remaining in situ

What led up to this tragic outcome if you don't mind sharing?
You're supposed to light the coals outside until they're white, flameless and glowing, then bring them inside. If you light them on fire in the room you're in for a very very unpleasant experience, smoke inhalation and stuff, before CO even starts getting produced. So i need to bring them inside after burning, then set them in the room, then seal the room from the inside, which is where the problem is.

By tragic outcome do you mean wanting to CTB?

The woman died because her head was lying closer to CO source most definitely. The man survived only because of his relatively distant position from the CO source. Although, there might be other variables involved like woman was more fragile in terms of resistance.

OP, you don't have to worry about passing out if you enter the room with the charcoals immediately. You will have enough time to close the gaps while there before you become sleepy.

They still omit tons of smoke when smoldering n they dont stay glowing without oxygen which is the whole point, incomplete combustion is achieved by lack of oxygen. It's a f'd up process. Im convinced if u dont want it to kill u it will if u want it to kill u, it won't n you're f'd.

They were both lying side by side in the tent, co is all around filling the entire space. But yes, u r right, she could have been more fragile n could have had underlying health issues.

The plan is to get it up to 10,000 ppm while breathing through a tube leading underneath the door, then take the tube out of my mouth and be unconscious after a few breaths and dead after a few minutes

Ah, you know, just the same stuff everyone on here is going through lol

Thanks, I think you're probably right but i will still use the tube just in case

If it's the article linked in Zanexx's goodbye thread, the man did spend 2 weeks in intensive care having oxygen replacement therapy. They brought the bbq inside the tent 5 hours after lighting, with "no heat in it at all" according to the article. Also, as it was an accident, they would not have taped the air vents up inside the tent.

They don't emit tons of smoke while smoldering. Source: i just did it last night and there was practically zero smoke. All that being said, i agree it feels unfair that these people that aren't even trying CTB so easily and yet those of us actually trying can't seem to make it work.

Why do u think it didnt work 4 u? Where'd u try it at? What effect did it have on u? I was just stumbling when I finally came out of bathroom. No headache n not really dizzy just loss of coordination. It was weird but unfortunately no fatal

CO tanks/canisters are made. Seems this would be easier than charcoal. Do not know how difficult to get though.

I answered some of this in the first post in this thread. I did it in a large-ish closet that has absolutely no vents. During a couple moments when i forgot to breath through the tube, I thought i might have felt something similar to what you describe, but i could have been mistaken. I'd really recommend getting a meter and shooting for at least 10,000, and breathing through a tube while you wait for room to reach those levels. That way once you've got the levels you want it's as simple as taking the tube out of your mouth and falling asleep.

I have heard that, some other users on here seem to think they're not a good method for some reason, but i may look into it again

Whats this tube you keep describing? Whats that connected to? Is it push thru the closet door or something? Sorry if you've already answered

Nah you're good, i'm just talking about a literal bendy plastic tube to stick one end in the gap underneath the door and the other end inside the room with me so i can breathe fresh air while i wait. I bought a food-grade silicone tube off amazon that was pretty inexpensive

Very difficult to get, only sold to businesses. U cant just go in a store n buy co

Plus highly flammable

Got it. But why can't this method be easier. How did the guy who did it in a hotel bathroom which was bigger than mine, only have a few burquettes n was successful. How did like 10 burquettes get the level of co high enough? Makes no sense.

I'm not sure how the guy you're talking about did it, but lower concentrations can still be lethal given enough time. But you can experience headaches, nausea, etc unless you're already asleep (as many people are in accidental cases) or if you knock yourself out with drugs. https://www.co2meter.com/blogs/news/carbon-monoxide-levels-chart

Closet seems already pretty bad place for this from the start. Well, most of closets. Since the moment you enter small space via full-height door, the gust of fresh air wash out all the precious CO been accumulated inside... It's hardly gonna work.

I can see it viable if only you stay in there waiting for CO build up(not really likely up to 10k ppm, you're optimistic as hell). In that case, tube seems nessessary, but maybe using face mask with tube out the closet, so you not only breathing fresh air, but also not letting too much CO2 level rise in the closet which causes suffocation and messes with CO production.

I know but i had low concentration for 4+hrs, still didn't work burned 1/4 of bag - brought in bathroom 4x6x8. dunno- losing hope to die

Cant rember bag size but i piled Huge fry pan worth n piled in a pyramid no vents in that bathroom but now I understand co rises so I prob needed to seal top of door jam better n maybe around light fixture.
Seems like too many have failed, doesn't seem viable honestly.
Up to you, everyone's gonna have a different method that's best for them

Yeah CO tends to rise upwards but when the concentration reaches steady state and the room saturates with it, the invisible gas cloud tends to descend downwards so it should technically work and it most definitely works, that's how people die, nobody dies standing, so the idea that one has to raise their head as higher as possible to maximize CO uptake is partially true at best. Yeah, you will most certainly get more exposure if you somehow raise your head near the ceiling but it's not necessary at all and even impossible to achieve since you get sleepy and fall to the ground after losing the consciousness.

I'd say it's very situational and depends on many factors, both, internal and external factors are involved like the resilience of the body, CO saturation in the air, how long does it remain to lethal levels, etc.

Tonight i tried CTBing using CO and failed. My meter just read an error code when i turned it on after getting into the room with the charcoal, which i burned until white and glowing like the guides said. I also think i may have waited too long and not enough of the charcoal was still glowing when i brought it inside. And maybe my 14 inch grill couldn't fit enough charcoal, i didn't weigh it but there was a lot, lump charcoal btw. I can post a picture of how much i used if anyone wants, and maybe someone can tell me if it was enough.

Nobody on here talks about the little issue of how the hell you're supposed to seal the gaps around the door AFTER getting in, which is like, duh? You can't exactly seal the door before getting in the room, can you? So I had to think of an idea myself, which was to breath through a tube stuck underneath the door gap while i taped up the rest of the door frame after getting inside. I wanted to wait until it read 10,000 ppm and then i'd take a few breaths and be out in a minute. But like i said i just got an error message.

Now i'm airing out the closet i was using, opened all the windows and stuff because i don't want to get braindamaged unless i'm actually about to CTB. My meter is working now (??) and it took a while but it just reached 0 as i'm typing this. The highest it read after i opened the closet door was 140-something in the hallway, so there probably wasn't nearly enough CO being produced in the closet. Another reason i think that is i took a few test breaths while still sealed up in there, and i didn't notice much of anything other than a smell and of course the heat. Not even some lightheadedness.

I read the meter's manual, and the troubleshooting section for the particular error message i got said it might need to be "purged" but the manual doesn't say how to do that. Tpi 707 btw. It's working now, so theoretically i guess i could turn it on and put it in the closet, then bring in the charcoal, then seal up the door, then see if the meter stays on and shows me a reading? That's probably what i'll do.

I smell like smoke and can't shower. Fuck.
Can i ask if you left warnings to others who may find you and how dangerous it can be to others?

I suggest sealing every gap in the enclosure before entering with the smouldering coals inside
I also tried co method and failed,, i guess I chickened out. During my attempt I reached a point where I heard some hissing noises in my head and was about to pass out
I would appreciate if you talk about all the process you passed through while trying this. If you don't mind.
