I keep coming back to this idea. I always used to have Beachy Head as my plan.. because it's 100% successful as a method and no chemicals etc. But I've looked over the edge of the cliff at BH before and it's terrifying. But jumping into water seems less scary, and still a good success rate with strong tides etc. I know which bridges are highest and stuff. ugh.. I don't know. Has anyone tried this and survived? I personally do know someone who ctb that way.
But anyway… I'm interested in anyone's thoughts and experiences? Thanks x

Not sure about currents in the Thames. It won´t be cold enough to consider sudden heart failure. London is very crowded even at night. Where are you going to climb up going undetected. There is also CCTV cams around. If just one person sees you and calls emergency services, they´ll come for you. You end up in the locked psych ward for quite a while or end up paying a fine. Even if you do succeed without SI kicking in and getting out or hold onto something, the people who will find you. I don´t know. Too much can go wrong there. You might also end up severely injured or paralysed depending on what or how you land, height etc. Seems like a rough choice too me and a lot can go wrong.

Is your plan to die by the jump itself or by drowning?

Pretty much nothing is 100%...

People do go into the Thames and there have been a few notable cases of people deliberately CTBing that way. Famously Abdul Ezedi (the Clapham acid attacker) earlier this year:

A greater number are rescued and there's a good chance of police attending if you are spotted.

Jumping takes lot of courage.
Id never have the guts for such method. Atleast i would need strong sedation for that.
Hope you find peace one way or another.

I suppose it would be drowning rather than the jump. I don't know..

Thank you xxx yes I'd definitely get drunk first and maybe take some sedatives too.

That's interesting.. the only thing I would say is that the people who survived a jump from BH probably jumped from the wrong spot. There are bits of the cliff which are straight down and that's where I'd pick if I was planning to ctb that way. But I'm pretty sure I'm not brave enough anyway.. x

Ideally, the jump injures someone and then you drown quite easily.

Why would you want to injure yourself first? With any method, we always have to acknowledge that survival is possible, and in that case you would want to come out as unscathed as possible

What I meant is you get injured through the fall on the water. Not to first self-inflict injuries.

you'd need a high bridge and the luck to fall head first so it knocks you out and you drown whilst unconscious. Too many variables for that. Also a chance to break your neck that way so you definitely don't want to survive it.

The river Thames, especially in London is far too busy to not be rescued. Afaik Bridges over the Thames in London aren't very high either. That will most likely fail before u even jump. Just my thoughts.

Can you swim? That'd be also a disadvantage when jumping into water.

I wouldn't do it (jump) from any London bridges unless you want attention. Your only going to get spotted & talked down;

I would consider beachy head or this bridge where the "anti-suicide" barriers are useless; https://www.examinerlive.co.uk/news/west-yorkshire-news/1m-scammonden-bridge-safety-boost-19134907

Beachy Head has always been my number one option.. for so many reasons.. I just feel SI would be an absolute head fuck at Beachy Head though. I thought if I get very drunk and jump from a Thames bridge at night then it might work. I do literally know a girl who ctb that way.

Keep in mind if you jump and survive your SI will automatically kick in at 100% even if you're injured so you'll be struggling. Maybe you'll drown but people also die from dry drowning due to the cold. If you want to know what this feels like turn the cold water on in the shower and get it. You'll immediately start gasping and it will feel like your lungs are made of concrete. I just want to make sure you know what you're getting into.

No bridge over the Thames is high enough to kill you on impact from jumping. Death would be from drowning. (The water is cold ,it is a tidal river and the tides can be strong.)
It can certainly work in that you could easily drown but make sure no one actually sees you jump , if they do it is possible you may be rescued.

To be honest I understand all that you're saying but I still think my odds are good if I'm very drunk or sedated before jumping. I am interested in what the worst thing would happen if I fail? I don't care about being sectioned.. I've been sectioned before and it doesn't last long. You get let out and can try again
