hello I plan to jump about 60m.
I Can land on grass.

Is it that if I tie my hands behind my back with handcuffs, am I more likely to die? see center of gravity etc.

thanks in advance

If you jump from a good enough height, it won't matter where your hands are.

The hight is well above the recommended minimum hight but you need to land on hard surface to increase your chance. I have never seen any relation of hands position and jumping. It will only endup making you feel uncomfortable.

I think with the height user is going, which in feet is just shy of 197 feet, I don't think grass would even save him at this point.

Fair point but considering what happens if you fail jumping, If i can help it i wouldn't play with recommendations and risk factors. Only high hight is also not always successful.

I agree with this statement. Many people have jumped out of planes, their parachute fails to open, they hit the ground and survive... And they are much, much higher!!

yeah there is a thing called air resistance that won't allow you to fall any faster (terminal velo)

You don't have to do that with your hands! It won't effect results regardless…

it's rare compared to the number of jumps... obviously the media will focus on these rare cases and pzs wur all the suicides per day per jump. in addition, it seems to me that those who jumped from much higher did not hit the ground directly but were slowed down by a tree or something else.

I've never read in the articles whether trees broke their fall or not. Most the times they don't show images, so we have to go by what they say.

Je n'ai jamais lu dans les articles si les arbres arrêtaient ou non leur chute. La plupart du temps, ils ne montrent pas d'images, nous devons donc nous fier à ce qu'ils disent.
OK but in any case each method has its failure rate...lostallhope indicates between 95/100 and 98/100 success over 47 meters on hard...other methods also have their failure rate: people have survived after being shot in the head or after hanging yourself or with sn...

I wasn't disagreeing with it, I was only saying the news never shows or says a tree broke their fall. I know all methods have a risk of failing.

It won't matter where your hands are, so you might as well be comfortable and not tie them. Can you arrange to land on a hard surface, such as concrete, rather than grass? That would make survival even less likely.

I can but it's difficult to aim at a specific place...and I'm afraid that my fall will be slowed down by something else by aiming for something harder

No one has ever survived a fall from a plane unbroken. Its media hype, all known cases were broken by trees or similar.

The human body cannot survive a fall at terminal velocity, unless they are the terminator.

As for 60M onto grass, sounds a bit risky, it could soften the impact and 60M is not high enough to hit a guaranteed death.

Falling from a high enough height makes it not matter where your hands are, you have a higher chance of not surviving with a surface that is hard, so don't think about your hands.

I have no other accessible place in my city. about 60m=roof of a 20-story tower I had spoken with a fire chief and a doctor on the internet who told me that there was no chance of survival...or really very little...

it's sad how on this forum we think a lot about our methods of suicide, we rehash this so some people throw themselves from the 5th floor and it's impulsive suicide without having thought about it

A fall from 60 metres (i.e. about 200 feet) has a good chance of being fatal if you land on any kind of solid surface. But rock or concrete is better than grass on hard, dry soil, which in turn would be better than grass on wet, soft soil. You would be travelling about 35 metres per second, which is about 70 miles per hour, just before impact. The reason a harder surface is better than one that can deform a bit is that the deceleration ("G force") would be greater, but even with a little deformation from soil the deceleration should be more than 100 G, which is probably not survivable. Landing on the roof of a car, which can deform a lot, and thus break your fall, would be another matter. You might survive that.

I made my advance directives as to what if between life and death no therapeutic relentlessness. I gave my general practitioner to my psychiatrist (noted on my computer file at the doctor) placed on the min health space website, stuck behind my identity card, a copy that I will leave with the parents and a copy that I I will leave it on the roof of the tower.

This is important so as not to end up in a vegetative state...because by throwing myself 60 m, even if I don't die I will be in a very bad state.
