Yeah so I'm 22, turn 23 in a couple of weeks. So far my life has kind of sucked ngl. Was homeschooled and then was an agoraphobic neet for 3 years after that. Got my first job last year and it's a bs minimum wage job. Been in community college for 3 years-no associates. My gpa is horrible. I dont have a car and still live with my parents. I'm probably autistic like the rest of siblings. Thankfully I'm the only one who didn't get diagnosed.

Tried to go the trad wife route and after being broken up with twice this year over different reasons, I'm finally just gonna join the military. I already signed the papers so now I legally have to go. No, I'm not thrilled that at 23 I'm joining the military and I'm surrounded by a bunch of teenagers. I'll probably be the oldest one there.

But my other option is what? Staying In a pseudo ghetto for another two years with my aging parents. Before I transfer to some shitty college and get saddled with a fuck ton of debt.

I am hoping to build a career out of the military. I know this is a suicide board and we're all here because we're suicidal. But if anyone here has military experience it would be appreciated. I'm looking for discipline and a change of attitude.

The MOS (military occupational specialty) you choose is a big factor in what direction your life will take. I learned electronics. People can learn various jobs in health care, computers and networking, or even something like air traffic control.

The phrase "hurry up and wait" has a particular application to the military. During the "wait" periods, you will be surprised how much you will get to know your fellow military people. As you learn more about people in general, you will find that you are able to identify Characteristics that help you avoid some and appreciate others.

I learned tennis from a guy from North Carolina. Most military instillations have recreational facilities and people who can instruct. They Navy often had Olympic size swimming pools.

There are a lot of opportunities to meet interesting people, do interesting things, and go interesting places.

how did you pass the asvab??? i want to join the military too. i'm really depressed living at home and i'm basically in the same situation as you at 20. i rely completely on my parents, have no car, and don't have my associates in community college yet. i dropped out of college this year to kill myself but i'm still alive because i'm a coward. i'm not diagnosed with autism either, but i'm worried about being too dumb to pass the test because i don't know algebra.

Idk if it makes you feel better but I am an actual dumbass and I managed to qualify for all branches. I don't know algebra either, fuck I can't do 7th grade math. But I did buy one of those "asvab dummies" books and tried to memorize as much material as I could.

The military can be really good for you but you have to make it good. Take courses, don't do dumb shit like drugs or get dui, and do what you're supposed to. Lots of people from all backgrounds so you'll probably find a buddy. If you get an Mos that has a civilian counterpart that's the ticket. Infantry, not so much. Motor T definite civie jobs. Plus you get paid and a place to live. I did time in the Marines and probably should have stayed in, hate civie world. There's lots of govt bs like forms, hurry up and wait, but that's just part of the life. I had lots of good friends then, and since it was the corps we were all f*d in the head somehow but got along. I recommend the military to anyone since you get experience, find out what you do and don't like to do, get skills and learn to behave, and it really is a good way to get a handle on personality issues that make it hard to just move around in society. And if you do get out and go to college you at least go in with eyes wide open and not sucked into the "college experience" all for the low low price of thousands.

There are plenty of dumb people in the military but they'll train you. The asvab is your key so get a study guide. For me the military was the kick in the head I needed as an 18 year old.

Really don't recommend it. I've spent a lot of time with people who have relatives killed by the US military. I don't trust them. They bully the rest of the world for "safety" when it's really about oil and colonization.

Please don't do anything that goes against your moral compass, even if it's coming from a commanding officer.

I am terrified of the US military. Please don't join them. If it's too late, please do everything you can to protect those targeted by it.

Hey you might even get to die for some rich fucks god given right to bomb a 3rd world county for oil, thats a win!
Feel free to call me some horrible, selfish sack of shit for going the military route. I won't pretend that I'm jumping with joy to join the military. I'm solely using it as a last ditch tool to fix my life.

Theres a big differencce between those in and those making political policy. Most military people dont want to go to war. Be sure why youre going in because once youre in its too late to decide its bad, unless you are prepared for the consequences.

No direct military experience here but everyone of my friends or family who joined the military said it was the best thing for them - not that they "enjoyed" it but it gave them life skills to prosper in the outside world. If I had to live my life over again, I may even join just to get my education paid for when I came out. Or turn it into a career. My father worded as a civilian contractor for the logistics side of the military and he did say that even he would probably join - it buys time until a person finds out what they really want to do with their life - and it looks great on a resume.

I think you can just brute force your way into learning algebra by watching a few youtube videos and just doing a lot of practice questions. If you really need help on algebra, I think you could just ask AI a bunch of questions until you get it/develop a mathematical intuition for it.

I used to talk to someone who didn't know anything beyond grade 4 math and just spammed a bunch of practice questions and passed . That guy wasnt very smart and was also ESL so I think its probably very possible for you.
