I started a new job back in May and if I'm reading the laws correctly living in Virginia in the USA I think I have to hold a life insurance policy for at least 2 years before it will pay out for suicide. Since I switched employers in May will that restart that clock? Does that mean if I got my new policy in May 2022 I have to keep it until May 2024 before the suicide clause will pay out?

The suicide clause in an insurance policy may differ from company to company, but typically it's 2 years. So yes, the 2 year clause is usually based on when you start the new policy, so you would have to wait til May 2024. But since the suicide clauses may differ, you should look over your insurance policy and see if you can find what their time limit is. Also it's common for employer provided life insurance, which is usually done though a group life insurance, to not have a suicide clause and will payout no matter how you die. Unless you're purchasing supplemental insurance through your employer, then it usually has a suicide clause.

is there a way I can check my employer policy without raising suspicions?

Usually the policy is available to you through some sort of benefits portal where you can look up your current benefits. If you can't find it, I think just asking someone in HR would be fine. You can say something like you want to check to see if you need to buy supplemental insurance.

My life insurance policy at my old job didn't appear to exclude suicide but it was only for $50,000 and expired the day after I was fired.

I was going to kill myself when I still had the job, but learned that my beneficiary would rather me stay alive and is sticking with me even if we go broke. $50k would have been enough for her to move and start over elsewhere…

eta: I have a life insurance policy for my car loan, if I die the loan will get paid in full. That one excluded suicide for the first six months.

That is why I sort of settled on my preference of ctb buy opiate/opioid lethal dose. I figured maybe it could make my exit possibly look like an accident rather than a suicide to avoid any issues with life insurance.

I've thought about this but the problem is I've never done any kind of drug like that. So I have no idea how to go about acquiring it and even if I did I'd probably fuck up using it. I think shotgun is the only reliable method I can find. Sure it's nasty but from all the research I've done it seems to be a very successful method.
