My father died and i suddenly need to operate his buisness, but the issue is that im retarded, like really stupid and its a fact (not just depressive opinion). He knew that he have a stupid son, so he kept me away of things and now he's dead and i need to do this anyway.

People are going to say that world is not fair, when they've got nothing from their parrents, while imbeciles like me got a fortune. They will never understand my point of view, because now im in a possiton that requires from me to be smart enough to not ruin my father work and legacy, which is hard, coz i struggle with almost everything

Rich and sadge...

Bit cliche but maybe a therapist could help you? Because if they have a higher IQ than you, maybe they could help guide you to make the right decisions. Maybe one that helps with problem solving and solution finding and one who directs you more instead of getting you to direct yourself.

Or could you hire people who are smarter than you to do all the work for you?

But yeah I'm sorry, it must be horrible to have a low IQ :( lots of low IQ people out there seem to have happy lives though. I mean look at some of the people on reality tv lol- some of them are dumb af and still end up happy.

I would first and foremost review if your IQ assessment is accurate. Second it's not really about IQ but, overall capability: can you run the company successfully or not?

If you're incapable or unwilling to run the company, you can delegate, or sell it. Rich people often leave their companies in the hands of experts.
Ask the bank for advice. Selling the company and then doing safe investments, is a viable choice.

Even high IQ people can end up with an asset they can't manage efficiently. Managing a business, just like any other job, requires more than raw IQ.

You don't need to be the smartest to run a business. There are many, many, many successful business owners who do well not because of being smart but because they work the hardest, or because they are good with people. And many of them would have been in the same position as you are in right now.
If you find the technical stuff difficult that's what your professional staff are for, you only need to know the gist of things.
If the company is big you'd have managers with good people skills, learn from them it requires a different sort of intelligence.
You can make this work by picking good staff, learning people skills and focusing on actions and results (not worrying about details in between).

You are not retarded and stupid for being incapable of operating his business.
Everything in life can either be easy or difficult (socializing, cooking, playing instruments, videogames), but the thing is: you need to learn by practicing or experience. I learned that it can be a very tough process to learn things considered easy, if you wasn't taught how to do it.
If your father saw you as too stupid to run the business, and protected you from something you eventually would have to do, than I'm sorry to say this but he made a terrible mistake. He should have made you struggle to take care of it before when he was present to help.
I'm sorry for your loss.
Mistakes are easy-to-remember lessons, good luck

You don't write like a person who is retarded. However, if you don't feel up to running the business, you could sell it or even offer to hire someone to run it for 25% of the profits. after five years or so if the guy proves to be good at running it, you could offer to sell him a 25% ownership interest in the business. There are a variety of options. You might talk to a guy at your bank to see if he might think of other options as well.

I think you have a point, it isn't easy to inherit a business you have no history in maintaining. Yeah it's great you inherited something, but it's a tremendous burden to keep functioning. So it makes sense OP that you feel that way, I can't agree to you being stupid however. Anyone would struggle with something they have no history dealing with... like if someone told me to manage a McDonald's I'm not gonna know anything, or if I had to manage a 401K. Give your grace, it's okay to not know things and to struggle, especially since your dealing with a familial death alongside probably dealing with estate stuff, add on top managing a business, on top of any other situations unfolding internally and externally. Just keep all that mind.

I think others have mentioned this above. I would also say that our self-evaluation is subjective and does not necessarily reflect the reality of our intelligence. Second point, intelligence is not fixed and can be improved. Hard work + studying often beats natural talent.

This article can be very useful to shift your mindset in the right direction: https://online.hbs.edu/blog/post/growth-mindset-vs-fixed-mindset

This mindset—that ability and intelligence can be achieved through effort—is called a growth mindset...

One of my favorite quotes from a manga I've been reading for so long goes something like the lines of "Let experience mold you. Fail as many times as you need to. Take responsibility, and give it your best shot." -Shen Wulong, Kengan Omega

I believe regardless what it is you're doing, whether it be sports, music, language, almost anything! It does not matter if you have "low iq" or not, what matters is realize where you made a mistake and how you can make sure that never happens again. You may think lowly of yourself, but I believe if you try your best and learn from your mistakes, everything will be alright

Im in your exact same position, my father is very old, 80s and soon he will pass, but I am also burdened with all the responsibilities he will drop onto me when he passes and Im autistic, the stupid kind, and I cannot handle stress. I mentally break down very easily under stress. Its why Im here now, because my dad wants to retire and drop all his businesses and properties on me. I never cared about money, I just wanted to drift through life but now Im burdened with all that stress and its making me super suicidal. I dont know why Im like this, Im so afraid of hard work, like it will literally kill me. As if dying would be better than having the burden of working hard. I know how absolutely pathetic this sounds, but it has something to do with my autism, I just cannot handle it.

I knew very smart people in my life, I bet non of them know how to run a business. Running a business is a whole different monster than being an employee at a company. Being an employee means u get some training period to get you familiar with the position.

However, running a business doesn't come with training unless someone has already took you under their wing and taught you how things are done.

Is there someone you could hire to run the business for you? Is there a particular employee your father trusted more than others? You might want to have a conversation with that person about the ins-and-outs of the business to give yourself an idea of how things work and which direction you should take (such as hiring an existing employee to run it, bringing in someone new to run it, or just selling the business).

Some people are unfortunately cursed with just enough intelligence to realize their ineptitude. Not dumb enough to live in a state of bliss and not smart enough to be normal and socially functional/productive.

How do you know for sure that you have a low IQ or that your stupidity is a fact? Have you taken an IQ test or something similar? And has it been repeated over time? Sorry if I'm asking too many questions. 😞

Low IQ is no death sentence. I have a mentally retarded friend who is teaching disabled kids and living best life she can. It's a matter of perspective. I'm not the brightest star, and my parents are both mensa intelligence. I've spent my life trying to be a genius. I realize now that it doesn't matter. As long as I'm happy I make my own success level.
