Yesterday tested partially hang myself. I could only last 20 seconds, It felt like my head was gonna exploded due to all the blood in my face and my eyes are gonna pop out. I still have a headache.

Any feedback on how I can do this longer and less pain? I don't want to back out mid way due to pain and have brain damage for the rest of my left.

I'm using hanging bar and a bed sheet with a simple overhand knot.

Hey there! It shouldn't be painful, you need to find the sweet spot (carotid artery) it's exact placement is different in everyone. It should be where you can feel your pulse in your neck.
If you do this you should pass out before even realising it. Wishing you a peaceful departure friend

I'm having the same issue. I believe that problem occurs when you compress the veins too much and not the carotid arteries. I have yet to figure out how to do it properly, so I'd appreciate it if you tell me if you find a method that works for you. Maybe there's some answers in the megathread...

What kind of BS is that bro... of course hanging is meant to be painful. You're literally depriving your brain of oxygen.

I'm not super knowledgeable about this so I could be wrong, but I thought that the pain from stuff like suffocation is from CO2 buildup rather than O2 deprivation. The brain being deprived of O2 doesn't directly cause pain I think. So for a hanging, it ideally shouldn't be too painful.

Seconding this. Hanging is not painless (at least it wasn't in my experiences), but if you are getting the "exploding head" sensation that means your rope placement is wrong.

After reading some other post with similar issue and the comments on this post. I've come to this conclusion that I messed up the rope placement.
My knot wasn't tight enough around my neck and since arteries are placed deeper compared to veins it makes sense that only the veins would be compressing.

Also, I gave up on the idea that it was painless after this try but thanks for reassuring that it's suppose to be painless, that's good to know.
Thanks guys!
