Is a bridge that is longest span 249 feet (76 m) and total length 708 feet (216 m) high enough to jump from and CTB? I don't understand these measurements, please help me.

If it's 249ft down and you can't swim then yes I'd say so.

no real need to jump then. if it's that bridge in your profile pic, i'd say that fall would not knock you out.

I'd recommend researching how many people survive jumping from the Golden Gate Bridge (eg with a broken back). Many years ago I considered jumping, I did my best to research from what height you'd hafta fall so that you eg lose conscious, and (very importantly) where you reach terminal velocity, and your consciousness is crucial microseconds behind, so your conscious is still in the air (if you get my meaning) when your body meets the ground.

There were some suitable cliffs in my area but I just couldn't stand the thought of being in the local papers. I eventually found (I thought) a good cliff less close to my hometown / less famous, but turned out to be less of a perfect cliff for the jumping off point. It wasn't such a sheer drop, trees were much closer than I was comfortable with. I think I worked out I'd much prefer 500-700 feet, but minimum 400 feet, but it felt like I might accidentally hit trees that were around 250 below me. (Keep in mind I was/am extremely scared of pain)

It seems very cruel to me that society forces us to do these things and confront such unpleasant scenarios, but if society were less cruel I think I'd probably want to stick around.

Anyway, I'm sorry you're going through this, and I hope you feel better soon and find what you need.

What part of your body impacts first makes huge difference. I think that's not high enough, at the least you'd want to climb to highest point.

Span is not a measurement of height. It is a measurement of length between supports. So in this case the bridge has several different columns that break the total length up into different spans, with the longest being 249 feet.

Not high enough, your SI might kick in and going feet first you might only get wet or have ribs broken. You need something at least as high as the golden gate bridge , that bridge as 99% sucess rate.
