I had a very long thread ready. I had some fears about the legality to post this. I am pretty sure it wouldn't be illegal. But the topic is controversial as fuck where I live. It was a long post about the historian argument about the culture of remembrance and the singularity of the holocaust. I am even on the side of Habermas who argued in favor of the singularity. Though, this topic is too hot to touch on the internet on an international forum for me.

So here an othe half-ass Trump thread.

There are arguments in favor and against that. And maybe it is too early to decide that already.

I would say the corruption on this level is unreached. The politicization of the justice system, the FBI, amount of executive orders though isn't fully new (McCarthyism). And the attack on the division of power is also not fully new. Though, it is probably unique in the modern times. It is sort of a rollback and regression to past times to the 60s.

The cult around his person is probably unique in US history. And it will be interesting to see what will happen on the election days and whether he will leave office. In case he isn't dead already.

I won't put more effort into this thread. It is so uncomfortable hot here. It is a shitty opinion piece whatever no person pays me for posting on the world's biggest pro-choice suicide forum. (By the way currently number 15 on the list of members with most posts and I keep rolling. Support me on Substack and Patreon. I am joking...)

Yup, Trump is unique for US history. But sadly not world history ....

"politicization of the justice system, the FBI"
You say this like the other side isn't the same. As far as I can tell, there isn't much distance between how corrupt either side is. Even harder to say which is worse, much is hidden behind closed doors. What I can say is that there is an intense and unhealthy love/hate for the personality that is Trump. That is a heavy judgment I put on the masses and not on Trump. What is seemingly unique to him is the excessive scrutiny over him. Those who like him only see good where it is and where it isn't, and exaggerations all over; those who hate him are the same, but see bad instead of good, be it actually there or not. It's petty, it's cheap, and it should not be what is described as politics. It's all just noisy children who think they are old enough to comment on the world. There is a cult of love and a cult of hate for Trump, both toxic and severely lack self-awareness and a proper scrutiny of public affairs.

Just because people believe they are in the right, they are rendered incapable of perceiving the corruption on their side all the while accentuating and exaggerating the perceived wrongs of their enemy. Blatantly, aggressively misinformed and ideological media that is an excuse for news and an affront to the profession that is journalism, for both legacy and new media.

I've observed Western politics for a long time now. I cannot understand how there seems to be a minority of people who actually see how stupid it all is, mud-slinging pots calling the kettles black.

There is far too little information to go with on politicians and the goings on behind closed doors. Not very many things can be verified, and most that can be done is speculation based on the perceived personality and character of the subject (in this case Trump). People with greater and more direct access to pertinent information are severely biased and not worth taking with a grain of salt. Once you see how they manipulate information that is publicly verifiable, you know you're watching idiots who think they are newsworthy. What can be properly observed are the observers, the commentators, reactionaries, keyboard activists and all other ordinary folk. They run on more or less the same information you do. These you can evaluate with relatively acceptable confidence. My evaluation of it all is disgust of all sides. Complete brain rot.

No. There isn't a second coming of Hitler, at least the information available does not really suggest that. If it does, then both sides of the political spectrum are in relatively equal danger of making that happen. If there ever was (big if), the side that is so scared of it will have created it by their own actions and hubris as a counteraction to their own overreach and aggression. The big moral accusations thrown around by people, you can almost certainly look at them and see how their side is well described by the very same accusations. They'd never see it though. They're 'good people', they just can't be. I hate religious/ideological nutjobs of all sorts, and there are so many.

At this point in my life, after observing people so much, I have developed a disgust for highly moralistic people. They are generally incapable of thinking and observing critically.

I won't defend my case on this though. It's hardly worth the effort. Either people see it or they don't.
