just like the title asks, is recovery possible for everyone? ive seen plenty of posts saying how recovery is impossible for certain people, and plenty more saying that everyone has a chance to recover. but what if some people are too far gone, is that even possible? i would like to believe that everyone is able to recover, but i dont know anymore.

i feel like im in too deep, ive tried recovery and failed too many times that it seems pointless to keep attempting. why try and force happiness when i know it's for everyone but myself? i have a few strong support systems, but no matter how hard i try, i just cant get back up.

please. is recovery possible for everyone?

i think it's possible for me but idk if i can hold out long enough to get there.
Yep, same here
If you want it you can, otherwise no.
This is something I am not sure if I agree with.
I mean that there are things, like depression and suicidal thought, that goes far beyond our will power, deepier and more complicated than that.

I do believe that recovery is possible for everyone, but that not everyone will get what they need to recover. We often don't actually know what we need which adds an extra layer of complication. If anyone wants to recover and has the energy to try I think it's worth the attempt even if it doesn't work out.

Autism destroyed my future, I wasn't diagnosed until 30. It caused so many things to just happen that caused a negative effect on my life. My memory was once at one of the highest a human can be born with. Now it's below average. I'm basically a shell of the person I once was. I use to be smart, now I'm stupid. My mind was constantly racing with thought, now very little thought goes through it. Today was a brutal day due to very high levels of anxiety. Recovery is a lost cause for me.

I think so. Whether or not it will actually be achieved is a different story.

The simple answer is no, as mentioned by others some people have terminal illness or disabilities. I personally think that if you have to change the fundmentals of your personality and or standards, that's not a recovery, that's reinventing yourself. So I don't think everyone can recover as some people's problems stem from the fundament of themselves. Another thing is some people just don't want to recover, and they won't, if they don't want to.

depends on how long the problem(s) last and the type i'd say. at some point it becomes hard to near impossible to weed out any mental problems, to the point where it just becomes managing it without fixing. not to mention it becomes significantly harder with people's expectations due to their lack of understanding / "you should know better now that you're [x] years old". some people are permanently stuck at the age they started experiencing mental problems. of course, this isn't even mentioning physical issues, which people give a lot more leeway for dying in dignity because for mental "it's all in your head".

So-called 'recovery' may be possible for some. I can only speak for myself. For one, I don't need to 'recover' from anything. My eyes are open. I see life for what it is. So-called 'recovery' would only mean hardcore dissociation and accepting a miserable existence and the pointless suffering that life offers. That's not for me. I'm not willing to take that from life, nor whatever created it... if that's a thing. To each their own in regard to how they view existence and life. As for me, there's no 'recovery'. Only surrendering to life. I accept this mean world, the evil human, and empty life for what they are. And I am at peace with my solution to it. Being suicidal doesn't always mean being 'disordered'. This society likes to throw that around. As if the human isn't a despicable being and their world a total hellscape. No one asked to come to this situation. No one should be obligated to stay and live out misery. No one should have to participate in the human's contest for nothing. So, if one see's living this out as some sort of 'recovery' then that's on them. For me, there's nothing wrong with the way I see life.

The truth is that "recovery" itself is kind of a vague term. Many people who choose to end their own lives do not do so because they have been dealing with negative feelings but because they truly have no other options (think of criminals or other martyrs in history or individuals dealing with terminal illness). However, for the people who wish to CTB due to negative feelings, depression, trauma, etc. then yes, I believe recovery is possible for any of them. When you have these thoughts, it warps how you think about things and so it is easy to feel like there is no path to "recovering" but if we think about the world in a broader sense then I believe that is obviously not true.

There is a BIG difference between being recovered and being anesthesied.
Some people can recover from a severe depression with meds, psychotherapy and put in order their lives. Sure. Good for them.
Now, another story is to be controlled or anesthesied for your mental illness and trying to keep going into life despite you don't want to, only to follow the social pact of appreciate life even when your mind are fucking nightmare.
In my case, I desist of recovering since I lost fear of death and pain. I know the consequences about my suicide, I know the mourning that I'll give it to my family and friends , but since I give up about my life and dreams I decided to step back and not be a slave of medicines, psych wards and fucking doctors and psychotherapists.
If someone wants to recovery and succeed , good for them. If someone decided to not pursuing anymore recovery, it's their decision, period.
