I'm mainly awake at night due to insomnia. it's peaceful but boring... sometimes excruciatingly boring, lol. I mostly rely on video games/music, occasionally alcohol, but after a while it gets old. there isn't much else to do. I wouldn't recommend it if you can avoid it.

For me, I think usually it's a bit better at night. What gets me more than anything is waking up, I seem to wake up with 10/10 anxiety about something random, some problem or circumstance that hasn't even come up yet.

At nighttime when it gets dark is when I feel most peaceful, happy and strangely safe. The darkness makes me like I can just be myself and no one can judge me. Like all my flaws fade in the glory of the dark starry night and I just forget them. Social anxiety strangely disappears when it gets dark or really dark clouds are covering the sky. I feel like I can do anything, be anyone. Also the quietness and sereneness of the night is really comforting and gives me a chance to really listen to my mind. Nighttime feels awesome.

It's very peaceful to me. Everything slowly becomes dark, my parents and step-brother go to sleep, I get to relax in bed with whatever selection of computers I want to use that night, and while getting to talk to my online friends who just woke up... it's like the perfect escape from the real world.

Definitely peaceful. It's when I'm most productive. There's also this strange quality to nighttime that feels simultaneously like derealisation and like everything feels stronger? At least emotions are stronger.

With "night time" I do not mean if you mean sleep or just night. I have some weird stuff with my sleep that makes me wake up after four hours or so naturally and fully rested, I have no clue why this is, but my father has it too and I wake up rested so I just ignore it. Due to this I have roughly 20 wake hours and go to sleep around 1am.

I can say that I prefer the night, it is a time of peace and freedom. From midnight walks to sitting by the window and enjoying the silent city view. Just being able to melt away in the moment and not have to think about anything and just exist in the moment.
Midnight walks are one of my favourite things. Especially after 2am.

The ability to walk in the middle of the road with no one in sight and just vibe and not have to care about anything as I wander the silent city and just take it in.
Or the mindless existence of just enjoying the view. I can confidently say that the last two wake hours for me are the ones I enjoy the most.

I cannot say anything about sleep as it is not very eventful for me.

I think it's the silence. During the night nothing really happens and you are left with no distractions. It is just you and the moment.

I know what you mean. I used to work years ago as a cater waiter (to support my acting bug) in New York City. We'd get off at 2 or 3 in the morning and I'd walk up Broadway and it would be just the night people, the grocers, the taxi drivers. I'd pop into a Korean grocer, grab a bagel and coffee and keep walking. It was really peaceful when there was a misty rain or snow Just wonderful. Good memories. Nowadays I'd get shot or knived. It was safer back then.

Just wanting some peace

There is no peace in this world for me, I believe that peace can only be found in nonexistence. In my case I hate every waking moment, no matter what time of the day it is. Waking up is probably the time that I hate the most though as it's always so incredibly disappointing to realise that I'm still here and that I didn't peacefully pass away in my sleep.

I prefer the night, due to insomnia. It is more quieter, and has less people. On many nights, I enjoy taking walks around midnight.

Snowy nights are the best, just be careful not to slip. Here there are stabbings and stuff, but honestly, not the way I would want to go, but I do not really mind. Either way as long as you keep out of gang relations you're mostly safe here.

Night is the time that I feel the most burden free and can ignore most of my problems. Plus the light stresses me out so being in the dark is very peaceful. Though actually sleeping is different because my dreams are weird and exhausting.

Certainly more peaceful than any other time of a day, I do need to wake up early though, so sometimes I can't put myself to sleep because of intrusive self-evaluations, so it could be a mixed bag. Generally though, I do prefer the night hours.

I know what you mean by waking up exhausted from all the drama in a dream.

My dreams are just my brain trolling me. I usually do not remember my dreams unless I am really passionate about something. If I want something a lot and have been working towards reaching it I will usually have a dream about me getting it just to wake up to nothing.

For me as someone who gets around 2-4 hours of sleep max at night, its the worst, I constantly stay up battling with my brain telling me im the worst constantly bringing up all my mistakes, the night only seems to heighten the feelings I feel throughout the day

Wow, just 2-4 hours. That's really tough and frays the already-frayed psyche. Do you periodically nap? Due to extremely tight muscles, I take an old-school muscle relaxer, Tizanidine which knocks my ass OUT. It takes maybe 2 to 2 1/2 hrs to kick, but when it does, you won't even know it. You'll be in the Twilight Zone.

Nighttime means I am done interacting with people, or worrying about interacting with people until the following day. Looking forward to it is what gets me through the day.

I used to have mostly neutral or positive dreams. I'd forget them within 30min of waking up but I don't remember often that I woke up in a pool of sweat or whatever and looked forward to going to sleep.

In the past few months when things have went bad, I'm almost afraid of it. Waking up a complete mess is a horrible way to start your day and it convinces me more that this is the way things are gonna be. I've been on a semi-steady diet of NyQuil which seems to help fall asleep, but not the quality. Feels like a rut that I can't seem to get out of.

I've been forcing myself to not become nocturnal (which seems natural) and try to enjoy daylight for SI reasons but it's pretty hard to do.

I try to take naps everyday but their hit or miss I either pass out or lay there just staring off into nothingness, most days its the second, sleeping pills don't help either as I've taken them so long they hardly affect me anymore but I've never tried Tizanidine I'll have to try it out

I just bought some sleep masks and they do make a difference. Esp. when I stuff them in my ears to shut out the yapping dog next door.

I find myself being more productive at night weirdly. I'm SUPER unproductive all day and it's frustrates me imensely, then at night I frequently suddenly start to become incredibly productive. Almost as though my mind kicks into gear when it realises I haven't got much time left.

Definitely worse in the evenings/night, I drink a lot each night just to deal with it. For me my thoughts/anxiety tends to build during the day and climaxes sometime at night. Each morning sort of feels like a reset to some degree, I definitely feel my most 'sane' as soon as I wake up, even if I have feelings of dread for anxiety for the day ahead. Whatever I feel in the morning will just continue to worsen during the day. I've always struggled to understand why people feel 'better' at night, apart from the peacefulness and quietness of it I guess.
