Hi everyone!
Tysm for the replies! (˶˃⤙˂˶)
Yep, I ended up going alone and it was crowded tbh though most of the ppl there are with their friends/siblings (ᵕ—ᴗ—). Anyway, here's some pics I took 𖹭:
I never go out in public alone because it makes you an easy target for ridicule by people in groups, or otherwise being regarded as a creep. I do my essential errands at 3 in the morning just to avoid running into people and freaking them out, so I would never even consider going to a whole convention alone unless I had a humiliation fetish, which I don't.
Same that's what I thought too. I really wanted to take pics with the cosplayers/event staff there but because of my traumatic past, I worry that they might ridicule/bully me. That's why also in my venting thread
https://sanctioned-suicide.net/threads/my-vents-no-pressure-if-you-dont-want-to-read-it.187925/, I'm hoping to make friends (preferably a cosplayer friend since I might try to cosplay in the near future too) to go to cons with or hang out in general so that I won't be seen as a creep and they won't ridicule or bully me.
People may observe that you're alone but that's most likely going to be the extent of it, unless you really get to chatting with others there. They're not going to read into it when there are so many interesting happenings around them to take in.
I went solo to an event once when my friend was supposed to go with me. I was anxious as hell but said fuck it. Dared myself. It took a little to feel comfortable alone but then it was just exciting and fun. If you decide to go I recommend getting their early so you can feel the place out and not be overwhelmed by a larger crowd right off
Thanks for sharing your experience!!! :)
Yep, I woke up late that day and the queue was crazy when I got there. I had to exchange my online ticket for a wristband and ended up queuing for almost 1.5 hours. ლ(ಠ益ಠლ)
It's definitely not weird. I walk around a gigantic anime convention alone most years and I never feel like anyone is judging me. I see a lot of people alone too and they're just enjoying their time. It's also easier because you can go at your own pace, eat when you want, take breaks when you want, etc.
And this is coming from someone who gets terrible anxiety being at a grocery store alone. Anime conventions are just different because they're so chaotic and people are usually friendly and just excited to be around things they like.
I hope you can go and have a great time!
Tysm for sharing!!! :>
I had a great time! Bought some merch and figurines too!
I go solo to most places. Somtimes it feels kind of awkward but ultimately it's like- it's that or, miss out entirely sometimes. There are benefits to going places alone. You can be entirely self indulgent on what you want to see and do when. Groups or friends can be a headache when everyone wants something different.
I've gone to a show with a large group before which just became an unpleasant, stressful experience. Some of them were late, therefore, we couldn't get to our seats and had to disturb other people trying to squeeze in after the show had already started. It wasn't even that good in the end. I went home in the interval! I reckoned I'd value sleep more. I'd organised it too. I decided that was the last time! I'm sorry your friend let you down though. That is disappointing. I hope you can still enjoy it though.
Yes I agree big groups can be a headache. But I'll have to admit that I'm very introverted and shy so I don't really enjoy hanging out in big groups. I would much rather have smaller groups, like 2 or 3 people... it just feels easier and less overwhelming for me. (ᵕ—ᴗ—)
You'll be fine no one will judge you! You should use this as an opportunity to potentially make new friends if anything. I know that might sound hard but considering you'll be at a convention it'll be easier since you already Have something in common bonus points if you go in cosplay.
Thanks!!! :D
Yeah as I said earlier I hope to make new friends, especially cosplay friends, to go to cons with or just hang out in general. Not sure if there are any cosplayers here on this forum hahaha. Yup, I'm thinking of cosplaying in the near future but I would definitely need some guidance from cosplay friends. (•⤙•)
I really hope ppl will want to be friends with me even with my looks and my introverted as well as shy personality.
Can I be real? No. And its not weird to eat alone, go out alone, sit alone, or do anything alone.
Its a great feeling when you feel free and at peace by yourself. When you are at peace being alone, you do not notice other people because you understand that nobody is actively looking for strangers to judge while out trying to have fun : )
Thank you sharing that!!! :}
I really appreciate the perspective.
Well, I've gone to anime conventions alone.
But a lot of people think I'm weird, so
But seriously, it'll be fine. Plenty of people go on their own.
Thanks for the encouragement!!! :)
It's reassuring to hear that there are people who go to conventions alone. ( ˶ˆᗜˆ˵ )
nope!! totally not weird. i used to go to them alone when i was younger. idk if anyone would even
notice that you're alone, there's usually SO many people. just have a good time <3
take lots of pictures! eat yummy snacks!! you got this
Thank you so much for reassurance!!! ♡
Yep, took a lot of pics and enjoyed the snacks! I love Japanese foodddd. It's too delicious hahaha
Once again, thank you everyone for your responses! Sorry if I didn't reply to all of you. Have a great day ahead! (,,>ヮ<,,)!
