  • Hey Guest,

Today, OFCOM launched an official investigation into Sanctioned Suicide under the UK’s Online Safety Act. This has already made headlines across the UK.

I think that it just depends on the individual, how many letters should be written, it's a personal thing. But I bet that many people do send multiple letters to different people, it makes sense that people would do such a thing if they have a few people in their life that they wish to say farewell too.

I mean it's your death. You can do whatever the fuck you want. Also I dont think there is a "standard" for commiting suicide lol. The term of "normal" is something created by society anyway.

What kind of things do you plan to write? Explanations, apologies, memories?
just things i want to say to them as if they were my last words. In one of my previous posts i wrote one to my music teacher. but the other 5 letters will be to my family. I wrote in one to my friend that i was sorry, and i listed all the things i liked about them. I just want them to know that. But in my brothers letter, i wrote why i did what i did. it varies, but thats all ive got. i hope you understand

I think that some people have things that they want to be heard after they've gone, and some people don't. I'm with you on this one, I would want to leave behind notes to several people. And they would all be quite different, as you've said yours are.

Whether it's 'normal' or not, I don't know. But it's nothing to be embarrassed or ashamed of.

the problem is i dont really know how to go about it. put every letter in an envelope with different names on it? scatter the letter around my body? put them all in one envelope? i dunno lol

I think so. I received a note from someone and they left several for others they knew.

I would likely put them in named envelopes and all in a pile on a table or something like that. I wouldn't keep them near you although I guess that's dependant on method.

There is no right or wrong way to go about things in a situation like this. Suicide is a deeply personal thing. I'm sorry life has brought you to this point

Do you want to handwrite or type them? Or voice note?

Likewise, I don't have the energy to give any explanation. None is due. My death will be a mystery, I'd like to keep it that way. To keep people guessing and wondering why I did it, kind of like a mindfuck.

I should note for the record that suicide notes are often seized as evidence and the families or recipients will never see them as law enforcement will not release them. If you're writing a suicide note or letter then do so in a prepaid stamp envelope and just mail it the day before. Otherwise any notes or anything around you I will likely be forever seized, and sealed collecting dust in the Oblivion of the evidence room.

I intend to write separate notes- although they're all likely to be pretty similar- I'm sorry- nothing you could have done- don't feel guilty type thing.

I have also heard that notes aren't always passed on to loved ones though- sometimes they are kept as 'evidence'.

I intend to write my notes as attachments to a delayed email I will send to my solicitor- they will need to be contacting those people anyway. I wouldn't trust physically posting them- if for any reason the attempt fails.

I will make one hand written note though for police- to clarify that this was an act of suicide and that it was entirely my own wish and doing- so they can hopefully rule out foul play quicker.

If it's normal and you do it, then you're in the clear. If it's not normal and you do it, then you ended your life as an individual. Soooo... either way it's a win-win

I'll be writing two personalised ones to the only 2 people I care about and leaving them at home to be found and I'll have a general one next to me in the hotel room

My first attempt I left no note, but on the second I left just one for my parents explaining why and what I wanted them to do with my body afterward.

My next, and hopefully final attempt, I will just leave my will and one note for my last remaining family member (sibling).
Leaving a note is damned hard to write and making the person fully aware of the pain I am in and a final chance to apologise and hope that they can understand.
