  • Hey Guest,

Today, OFCOM launched an official investigation into Sanctioned Suicide under the UK’s Online Safety Act. This has already made headlines across the UK.

This is a clear and unprecedented overreach by a foreign regulator against a U.S.-based platform. We reject this interference and will be defending the site’s existence and mission.

In addition to our public response, we are currently seeking legal representation to ensure the best possible defense in this matter. If you are a lawyer or know of one who may be able to assist, please contact us at [email protected].

It's a huge part of the reason I am ctb. Mine was in the form of drug therapy. What was your experience?

there was a user here (can't remember their name) who ctbed because of a failed sex-change surgery. I think their post's title had "pong pong poisoning" in it.
edit: found them

Same though I would describe it as pharmaceutical and regulatory malpractice. And medical ignorance.

yes prescribing me an 'harmless' SSRI (antidepressant) Paroxetine that completely crippled me after 9 months use and left me in 15/10 intensity CTB-worthy disabling pain. Housebound can't barely prepare food etc.

unbelievable

I suppose yes. It's been 15 years since the first antidepressant prescription, 10 years since first starting therapy. At first I was diagnosed with depression, ADD, and then since 2013, bipolar. Dozens of harmful medications and psychiatrists and therapists, none of them diagnosed me with PTSD until a year ago.

If I had been diagnosed with a dissociative disorder earlier I could have taken steps to recover sooner and perhaps not fucked up my life quite so much. I was already screwed up when I became an adult, but I spent my 20s and early 30s making things worse. I wasn't screened for trauma until 2017, when some clinic-administered personality test suggested I was traumatized, and because of the dissociation, denied it to the psychologist who had ordered to the test. Finally in 2020 I started opening up.

eta: Also I have had digestive issues all my life which my parents neglected and punished me for having, and then once I started managing my own health care, was misdiagnosed a few times in my 20s. Didn't get a correct diagnosis until I was 32.

My surgery went wrong and fucked up my foot for life, and now nobody will give me PTSD treatment due to foot pain because somehow that would interfere with any mental health treatment, even in a mental hospital.

Yes, failure of numerous specialist departments in finding a timely diagnosis now i have irreversible damage of internal organs. I believe that if NHS was better resourced, I may have had a better chance of cure. But alas, im dying. My intestines and endocrine systems are almost paralysed. Some days I feel like my guts are being chewed by a shredder. Painful stabbing, burning, vomiting.

I have had 16 years of inappropriate drug therapy...left me with cognitive issues, unable to do basic things, The mania they caused ruined friendships, university etc. If it weren't for the mismedication I wouldn't be ctb. They've admitted to some of it, but so what.

I'm sorry for everyone's experiences.

Yes I was put on ssri citalopram in HS which I should have never taken. I was distressed for my acne skin condition and the bullying I was receiving. I also was put on antibiotics, predestine, and accutane and skin creams that ruined my health and skin I believe.

I'm also here because of psychiatry. I've been medicated for the vast majority of my life and only now I realize that all it's done is make me sicker. Currently in benzo tolerance withdrawals, trying to work up the nerve to taper, although I may end it before I do.

I lost a lot of my memories due to several rounds of ECT as a teenager. It's definitely frustrating to have to piece yourself together again.
I've found an effective way of bridging that gap between what I do remember and building an entirely new foundation.

A high percentage of doctors don't know what they're doing. They are continually wrong. The daily negligences are thousands. Sometimes, when I come out of a consultation, or after a doctor has seen me, I wonder if they haven't given him the doctor's license in a raffle. And in addition to incompetent, there are dishonest ones. That they do you harm being aware of it.

Something that I have learned is that you have to investigate as much as possible which doctor to put your life on, because indeed, a doctor can destroy your life, even when you go to see him for a minor problem, I also attest to that.

I'm in the same boat. Wanna chat about it?

Medications damaged my brain and body, and my parents kicked me out of the house, making me homeless, because I wasn't acting right as a result of it.

It's minor compared to others on here but I had laser on my face due to a couple of small scars (which it was meant to improve) and it resulted in fat loss so my face is uneven. It got more noticeable over the years and is way worse than the original scars. I never knew that could happen. If I was gonna stick around I'd have filler to improve it but I'm wary of getting anything done now. My face is ruined.
