Way back when, I used to self-harm with the usuals like a broken razor or pencil sharpener. But I don't have either of those right now, and I have the strong urge to break my streak.

So, I have bag full of dermaplaners and I was thinking it cut hairs off the skin too, so it should be close enough to a razor where it could get the job done right?

Also, do you actually have to treat your wounds? I didn't use to when I was younger and just dab the blood off and let them be. So, as long as they're superfical it should be good?

if im gonna be real, ive tried with similar and no they are not worth bothering with. i think its best to just skip out. for wounds, i think minimizing irritation is a good thing, i shower/clean with a wet tissue at least, and wear comfortable clothing or put a bandaid over it. im not sure what you mean by superficial, but if they are dermis level I would consider keeping them covered with a bandage (obvi changed daily) to promote faster healing and keep fibres/dirt out. in my experience it should be fine but if they are gaping in any way i would take care of it because infections suck. i hope whatever is causing you to wanna cut passes soon, but i get having urges for little reason. best of luck.

i use dermaplaning blades, the cheap chinese ones that are knockoffs of feather cut specials. they're good. fresh out the box can get full-thickness with some pressure. idk if youre talking about the same type though.

once you get to partial thickness (ie reach the dermis/styro) and deeper taking care of the wound is pretty important since it bleeds for longer and there's increased risks of cutting something like arterioles or veins when you reach full thickness (hypodermis/fat). i dont really like how full cuts are scary and take forever to heal, though the scars are really nice. superficial cuts (epidermis, little to no bleeding) can get away with just cleaning with soap and stopping blood, but once you hit dermis or lower its a good idea to invest in proper bandages and gauze and stuff. fat and deeper is recommended to get stitched within 6 hours of the cut so it heals in a few weeks instead of a few months.
