Help Is 12mm too thick?

I know the recommended thickness is 10-12mm, but it feels very thick. Also it is very firm, doesn't bend easily. Polypropelene.
Is the slipknot good? What knot to use to tie it to the tree branch?

I've had it in my closet for almost 2 months now, thinking it's a long time coming. I have to do it there is no other way.

I think it's suppose to be as thick as your thumb.
It's not suppose to be elastic, so polypropylene is not recommended, jute is better. But if you're high enough then polypropylene might work.
I don't know what that knot is, it doesn't look like a proper slip knot.
You can tie a rope to a branch using the clove hitch.

I think that sometimes wrapping something around the rope (it can be a sock too) helps with the pain a bit. It can also make it thicker in case the rope is too thin.

The suitable thickness depends on your bodyweight. If you are not extreme light weight 12 mm is ok.
Your slip knot looks allright, if this is the only knot you know, you can also use it to tie it to a horizontal beam or branch.

The padding just makes it more comfortable. I felt the rope was biting into my neck a bit too much.

Idk if you are planning to use it for FSH but
once a polypropylene rope has been cut, it loses a lot of its strength, even if you tie or melt the ends. It's not really safe for full suspension, since the weak point could snap under sudden load.

Polyester or natural fibres (such as hemp), for the low-cost ones.
