One day, I am gonna grow wings

We don't choose how we remember.

I have noticed that, almost unconsciously, I've linked specific scents and songs to my friends who have passed away. While they were alive, these things often had nothing to do with them, but death created these invisible bridges. Today, I want to share these fragments that ensure they will remain with me forever.

My bfriend committed suicide on June 6th, 2025, at only 17 years old, by jumping from her window. Today, she returns to my memory every morning the moment I catch the scent of the cool air in my hallway. I believe this connection was forged at the very second I learned of her death: as I got out of bed, trembling, that crisp freshness marked my senses forever. There is also this piece of music that, from the very first notes, brings me instantly back to her:
THÉ WINNER TAKES IT ALL (ABBA)

For my friend roomie, the link was born from a temporal coincidence: I was listening CLUB BIZARRE (U96) At the exact moment when I heard the news. Since then, this song has become his in my mind.

Sometimes, the bond is created even with those I have never met, but whose story has upset me... :(

These sounds and smells are like small memory boxes that open without warning. A bit like Proust and his madeleine?
