Everyone, nurses, phlebotomists, EMTs, all of us, had to stick a vein for the first time. I can watch someone do it and know if they're a natural or if it's definitely not their skill.

I'm sure there's some YouTube venupuncture videos, or IV catheter insertion tutorials.

Heroin and meth addicts figure it out and do it routinely. Yes, it takes a little know-how and a bit of finesse, but no, it's not hard.

It's amazing how cheap & accessible all the supplies are online.
It is, I was both shocked and pleased when I managed to find many gauges of needles, butterfly needles ivs etc It does open up possibilities.

Remember, the bigger the number, the smaller the gauge.

Edit: I know this is counterintuitive, so think of it this way: the gauge indicates how many needles can lay side by side in a one inch space. 24 gauge = 24 needles together = small; 12 guage = 12 needles = huge.
