While the article is pretty light-hearted in tone, the subject brought up is no light matter.
Just like him I had this vague sense of antinataliam at a very young age, and decided long ago that I will never ever participate in bringing a child to this world in any manner.
What I am gonna say might come as an offence or a slap in the face to many parents, I apologize in advance. Yet to me it is undeniable that most of those who give birth should be condemned severely. I used to agree that it's all about children didn't consent to being born, but as I thought more about it, I came to my own conclusion that it is about the parents either causing damage intentionally or being reckless. An obvious example is those who are pure evil, give birth for whatever selfish or even disgusting reasons. A less obvious example is those who are poor and/or who have genetic illnesses. Then there are those who have unrealistic expectations, like thinking a child would fill their hole or thinking they could make it work baselessly. Finally there are those who truly believe they have something to offer with a little backup but fall short of.
I compare the above as driving. The first kind of parents are out for kill, the second one is those drink/drug and drive, the third one is those who never inspect their car, put duck tape on it instead of repairing, headlights always off etc., the forth one is those who barely passed the driving license and go straight to Highway 17 without preparation. All of which always end up with third parties suffered.
Just because they are giving life instead of taking it doesn't exempt the duty they carry. Many parents would be jailed or even given death penality if the same standard for killing was applied to giving birth.
