I have a fiercely strong survival instinct that has done amazing things a few times to keep me alive. I'm like a wild animal when my life is threatened or I'm in danger. I would probably chew off my leg if I had to such as being in a trap. I am thinking that even if my method is fool proof, I will most likely find some way at the last moment to save myself. I've tried ctb once before and while not even conscious managed to call people who rescued me.

It gives a lot of benefits to having a fast instant way to ctb such as a gun, which I know in advance I would never be able to use on myself. Anything non violent leaves time to self rescue.

Does anyone else think about this or have this problem?

I think about it a lot, but I think my survival instinct is much lower than yours. I once tried to drink paracetamol to kill myself and I endured a long time feeling bad. I didn't intentionally throw up or rush to the hospital. So, I think that when my time comes, I will hold on to the whole process.

I thought I used to be one of these people with strong survival instinct after I tried to strangle myself with a computer cable but let go after I no longer felt any strength in my limbs. On other occasion I swallowed more than a 100 different pills, drank some vodka with it and started vomiting almost instantly. Well continuted to throw up blood for days after that.
I proved myself wrong when I tried to CTB by stabbing myself to death with a knife, like a military grade one. I wouldn't stop stabbing no matter who called out to me, so yeah I guess people may change too or rather the methods I used weren't completely focused on survival instinct.

This is why most people need a method that's a guaranteed one way ticket, such as a headshot or full suspension. Your body trusts you to make big decisions, until it doesn't. If you get 'it' into trouble, then good old 'Mr Reliable' will take over the controls and fight on auto pilot.

I've always been afraid of this, and having it botch or ruin my attempt. Ideally, I want to go peacefully, so something like jumping and having second thoughts while doing so would prevent that. I guess it boils down to the method, and whether it allows for your survival instincts to kick in.
