Venting I'm stupid paranoid of being doxxed for no reason.

I make art, but I also have a fanfiction account that recently was connected to my art account. Basically, people can now reasonably be able to tell that it's me on both accounts.

I'm relatively normal with my art stuff but my fanfic is weirder. It's not the craziest shit ever, like it's cuddling at best and eroguro at worst, but I only recently learned one of the characters I wrote a lot of nsfw shit for is 17 - not over 18 like I thought. Within the fandom, people don't seem to care about that from what I've seen, but if this is connected to my art stuff it'd definitely go outside the fandom.

Long story short I'm so, SO paranoid about getting doxxed because of this. People will consider me a pro-shipper, and while I don't really care about ships and shit, many people have been swatted for that, and worse.

I don't know how to remove the connection between accounts because it was basically a post by someone else making the connection that's already been shared. They weren't being malicious but I'm scared that other people will be in the future.

Somebody please tell me if I'm just freaking the fuck out over nothing or not.

don't panic, all of this doesn't matter, do what you like, at the end of the day, everyone to themselves, and I'm pretty sure nobody cares that much to dox someone just having fun :3

I think it will be fine. It's easy to look to high-profile cases of someone getting harassed over something like that, but for every person persecuted there are probably tens if not hundreds of thousands or more who do the same thing with less security and aren't ever targeted.

I'm sorry you feel so worried about this. I can relate in a surprising number of ways to your thread. I even just wrote a post on here very recently about how paranoid I was that someone would connect my online accounts and my real identity, but in my mind I know there's no particular reason why someone would put in so much time and effort just to mess with me besides a one in a million crazy person.

Thank y'all, I appreciate it. You're right and I should just try to enjoy things without being afraid as much as I can. I was panicking about it for a while when I wrote the post but I managed to work up the courage to keep posting my fanfics. Life's shitty enough without my paranoia holding me back lol.
