Hi everybody,

I've decided to self-ban and leave the site.

I'm frankly not sure what the future holds for me.
- I am in touch with people in PM who can help me with a video and post a goodbye thread on my behalf if it comes to that.
- On the other hand I have been offered help today: medication and a psychiatrist (I'm honestly not sure how much this will help practical issues though).

I'll self-ban in about an hour to give people a chance to PM me so that I'm still able to PM you after I self ban.
I know it is still possible to PM after you self-ban, but I don't know if you can PM with someone unless you already have a conversation going - I'm pretty sure you can't as I've had this issue with others who have self-banned for a period of time.

Anyway, I'm happy to hand over my lightsaber so that somebody else can work on bringing balance....

Just take a break like most people do from time to time. You don't have to make grand announcement about it.

This tends to happen with people who are suicidal.

I am so sorry, as I am sure we all are, that BPG's crisis has been an inconvenience to you. I am sorry, as again I am sure we all are, that he didn't feel strong enough to fight on his own and needed help of other members.
Most of all, I am sorry that BPG backing out on Saturday didn't provide you the entertainment some desire.
Personally I hope he does come back somewhat refreshed, even though some may not. I look forward to when he is in a better state and able to return.
BPG has become a friend to many here, he will be missed even if he has made some enemys these last few days while he was especially in a severe crisis

BPG could just take a break without self banning like most people do on here from time to time.
Peiple need to realise that repeatedly posting goodbye threads to CTB ones on here, is emotionally exploitative towards people who invest themselves in them.

It's not that easy. if you are used to coming here often for support and communication, it can be difficult to just stop because of the emotional dependency.
Social media can become an addiction, which is what it was designed for.
Self-banning makes it easier to stay away.

Then I hope he changes his mind , even if it's just to spite all the complainers. Basically, he has been guilt tripped out of here, and that is going on with other users too with recent accusations of spam, attention seeking or not killing themselves too soon enough to please the Coliseum , dafuq, is this a contest???!!!

News flash , you arent in a suicide forum because your life is peachy, some are so isolated that this place is their last human connection and that means venting and moving through indecision, and that is good too, because how many more nylon rope threads we need?

What is the point of self ban and keep chatting via PM? You can do PMs without self-ban you know. It's not "leaving the site ", it's staying with your name crossed.

You didn't do it wrong. There's only one way to self-ban, so unless they changed it I believe it just doesn't mention that you can view PM's. I think it's just like this in the 48 hours - the only option you have is to cancel the ban. But I'm not positive about that. I've also self-banned and cancelled it and this is the screen I got.

Well admittedly I feel a little silly because I was gone for less than 24 hours, it just didn't work as I expected.

At least I get to disappoint the haters though

I've seen people with their names crossed out but they're still able to PM.
@TheQ22 is a good example of this currently.

I wasn't able to even view people's messages to me.
Anything I clicked on took me back to the same screen, screenshot above in previous post.

But this isn't how the "Disable Account" option seems to work?

I think the 48 hours before your name is crossed out just works differently. I guess they figure if you're trying to access your account again so soon then you're not really ready to leave.

Yes. What I wrote is absolutely accurate and I stand by it. People shouldn't be giving anyone anything that could be misconstrued as tips or advice. But they do on here. I'm not really sure how you think that post makes me look bad, quite the opposite. It shows I'm being responsible.

Talk to Chupa. He banned himself and was still able to reply to messages but he wasn't able to start new conversations. I think it was you who were trying ot message him and couldn't. So no new messages could come in- but current convos worked.

I like the ideal of "not judging people" when on a website that's supposed to be the one place we can have empathy and understanding for our uh, issues.
But maybe that's silly of me to hope for. I'm stupid after all, I'm brainless and can't do anything right so clearly my ideal was stupid too.
