The Online Safety Act. It was supposed to block just porn. Bullshit. I tried to access a stopdrinking subreddit, it was blocked until I used a VPN! It's a support group! LGBT+ support sites are purportedly being blocked. This is a dangerous, authoritarian piece of legislation. The worst part is you have to post a selfie or government document to a dodgy third party app! Either hackers or this corrupt, despotic government will get that. I was originally opposed to the blocking of SaSu in the UK, but if they hadn't could you imagine the privacy concerns of uploading a selfie here? I'm going to write to my MP (not mentioning SaSu) about this legislation. I'm honestly furious. Rant over.

There are ways to get around it, generic images of driving licences and YouTube videos specifically to bypass it. What's worrying is they may find some excuse to try and ban VPNs.

Hopefully i will have ctb before they ban vpns. I'm not tech savvy but i'm sure someone will find a way around any ban that's made.

Really? I don't live in the UK, but honestly, OSA seems to be an excuse to just get rid of any support system people in need have. A conspiracy theory of mine is that they're trying to force people who need recovery to pay a business for support...

Any attempts of educating them usually results in said people calling everyone who disagrees with them pedophiles for "wanting to expose kids to porn". I've personally been on the other side of the spectrum. I've survived at some point abuse in my childhood and in the gaming side of the things , when we get back at all these credit card companies and safety acts that have been popping up I'd still like for people to be weary of certain things (like true CP and Rape games...); not to be confused with CNC and BDSM which can be used as healing by SOME BUT NOT ALL... I'm really thinking if there are many bots with premeditated answers because I've been told that I want to censor BDSM and CNC...

However I'm always met with "you're either against all censorship or for it" and other weird responses like I mentioned earlier which is weird... I'm against harmful censorship which is 99% of what is happening right now, there are times where censorship can be good but it's not really censorship it's more like straight up banning some extreme content used by abusers to mock us?

I kind of did get angry because of this and made a thread even here but now with a new perspective I can see that it's more dangerous than before and that by remaining more calm and understanding of eachother we can beat these safety acts , governments and credit card companies , get back the content we were stolen and more important hold the companies and government responsible for being as you guys said authoritarian; and we can be on the lookout for evil content too. All these can happen at the same time and rage blinded all of us. We should all be in this together and some bad actors make it worse for everyone.

I don't have to explain as to why some CSAM abuse victims might get scared when people gloss over the rape and CP games and just call them low hanging fruit for the companies to use as an excuse... WE ARE AWARE but for us it matters a lot that you acknowledge that they were absolutely damaging to us and that we will have allies if they will ever come back...we just wanted to voice this one thing and we get absolutely torched online everytime we open our mouths; some victims don't process in specific ways and these games hurt us, especially the ones that are clearly made for ABUSERS and NOT VICTIMS!!! , we just wanted our opinion to be heard too.

It is so sad that some folks think that they know and/or want to control others so bad that it winds up hurting them as well or even more so.

To control is to lose the future and nobody ever wins in that situation ever.
