I'm truly sorry if this has already been posted. I'm new here and don't have much experience with forums.

Basically the title. I'm afraid of the "after", afraid of what I might suffer, what I might see, feel, go through. I know it's a "weak" thought for those who want to go, but believe me, I really want to. yet I have this stupid fear that makes me feel pathetic. Is this because something holds me here? Anyone feels something similar? If so, how do you think it's the best way to fight against?

I think it's rational to feel fear. You can get past fear I think by overpowering the fear with something else or otherwise fully embracing it to its most extreme truth as though it is unavoidable. You really can't fight your own fears in a winning way otherwise you just spend a lifetime fighting it, but there are things more powerful than fear in life as it relates to our mind.

Same, when a lot of people theorize about how the world would be without them they do it in a third person view with how their death might affect their friends, family etc. We're doing it in a first person view about a concept we will never be able to grasp, right now your own consciousness is theorizing about itself not existing when existence it's all it knows.

Almost everybody is scared of dying , that's in us , thats why its a crime to have children. Life is not worth the trouble, the pain and the fear of dying.

All of us have death anxiety, we only differ in how well we recognize it, it's an innate fear.
It's strange to find yourself existing and know your body will be gone one day. It's an experience we can't avoid once we're born.

We all fear the unknown and that makes it even more difficult to leave this world. Whether there is an afterlife or non-existance or sth we cannot even imagine, it's unknown to us and we only will know after reaching the point of no return. I wish you all the best!

The fact is that we are simply destined for nowhere but to die so there's not much point to fearing death, it's completely inascapable.
I personally only fear this nightmarish existence where there's unlimited potential for suffering but I just believe that we cease existing after this, so of course I see death as being a relief as it's the only escape from this hell. Permanent non-existence is the best thing possible as in death one cannot suffer, they have no problems and are completely unaware, existence is just a tragic unnecessary mistake in the first place and to die solves what the true problem is which is existence itself.

I completely feel you here and no it is not ''weak'', I've seen a bit of suicide gore over the years and I know I will be dead and not able to witness the aftermath but hearing the screams and cry's of the people finding the lifeless body's of their children/partner and just seeing the aftermath is so scarring to me. I think one of the reasons I find it so hard to really commit to it is because of the aftermath. I honestly couldn't care less who finds me and what their reaction is but envisioning myself hanging or having my head blown off is too deprevating of a thought for me.

Not everybody is scared of dying, there was a time in my life that I had zero fear of death.

Im not scared of the after, more about the during and how long the pain lasts.

Go to bed and imagine yourself dead. No more tomorro, no more problems, etc. I doubt you will feel anything but peace.
Watch some NDE testimonials, they differ in what the people experience, except for the immense peace and freedom they feel.

Imagine the horror of it going black and instantly back to screaming and wailing, eventually consciousness takes hold at whatever stage and you live for 16 years in a "renewed" type of earth, where giant monsters rip and tear your fellow humans to shreds.

You end up with diseases and parasites, your family eventually murders you with a gaint boulder thinking you are a demon of some kind. brains spilled all over while they chew on you to keep their starvation at bay.

Then it happens all over again...

It is something within us and that has been present since the first humans. The fear of dying. That feeling of wanting to leave but still being afraid of what might happen next (as you mentioned) is a mystery that we must leave unresolved...

Why would the after be any different from the before?
Right there is nothing after Death just like there was nothing before being born. i had no problems before I was born, all those 13.8 billion years since the universe began in the big bang all that time i had no problems with not existing, no problems at all no pain etc. The problems , suffering , pain began when they birthed me into this evil world as a small animal that can suffer constant unending unbearable pain . Before being born or after dying the human or animal won't exist so how can it suffer pain then? How can something that doesn't exist suffer pain . it can't.

There's no evidence for any afterlife. Consciousness and sentience are curses generated by the brain. Without consciousness or sentience a human can't suffer , nor feel pain.

I think if someone realizes that they will die anyway and life is short and that after death is non-existence forever. then why fear the inevitable if you know after death is non-existence forever and it's going to happen anyway?

I don't fear after Death. I can't feel any pain nor suffer nor be bored after Death because I won't exist so why should I fear that? It was just like before I was born or similar to being asleep with no dreams.

Why prolong a life if anything i do or don't do won't exist very soon forever. no one can take any money or memories or anything with them after Death. nothing of what a human did will exist . and that's good to me because who wants to remember bad memories?

I've always seen the stark similarity between humans and other animals . imo cats and dogs are conscious and so are crows and monkeys chimpanzees. they have very similar brains and identical cells to humans. a human is just another animal . The only difference is language capability . but Chatgpt 4 imo much smarter already can write an essay in 3 seconds on anything really deep topics. I can't write like that. it's much smarter than I am .
