I don't want kids. But, because suicide is so uncertain & difficult to do, I don't feel like I have the option. Also, I'm scared of going to hell if I commit suicide.

It is okay to not have kids. Don't feel pressured to do things you don't want to do. If you feel it isn't your time yet, then that is wonderful and perhaps you will find some helpful sentiment from others on the Recovery section who have chosen to take the same path.

I'm also scared of going to hell. My parents are both Christian and went to church etc. it's always there in the back of my mind. I'm going to last as long as I can and do my best to get better. But I'll most likely end up ctb.

I was raised Christian and was afraid of hell for the longest time. Here's my personal belief:

Hell doesn't exist. It's a belief formed by religions to have more control over individuals. Christian god is supposed to be loving, just and merciful but somehow doesn't acknowledge that life can be full of suffering that some people choose to end the pain this way? Instead this god punishes them even more? What?! Doesn't sound like a just god to me. Hell seems to be spreading fear rather than love?

If a human being is capable of forgiveness and unconditional love, surely the god who created them is capable of such and more?

That said, I wish you the very best in recovery if that is the path you choose.

I feel exactly the same and agree with your post except the hell part, I have made my peace with it and 100% don't believe in the primitive fairy tales of ancient perverted desert dwellers. I'm ex Muslim here so our depictions of hell are just sadistic, I hate this religion so much you have no idea. All religions are garbage but this one takes the cake for sure. I'm not sure if I want to stick with life though, I'm still deciding. I have SN but I need anti emetics and who knows if it will even work, I don't even know if my SN is real or potent, it came from a shady source :(

Hell, and religion in general, are concepts that were used to control the lower classes of people before formal laws were in place.

You don't go anywhere when you die. Your consciousness will cease to exist, and your atoms will be exactly the same.

It's more rational to be afraid of pain or failure than hell, heaven, etc...

Religion is something that science cannot exactly prove or disprove. It is outside the remit of science.
Nonetheless, I am convinced of my religion and so believe that Hell is waiting for me if I commit suicide.

Can't you just live but not have kids then?

Yes, probably.
By the way, when Atheists like Sam Harris call for war with the Muslim world and call Islam primitive, I find white privilege speaking. Young, black people are killed by the police in America, and not much progress has been made. But, when Sam Harris speaks from his enormous privilege & hatred, he has an instant audience.

As an atheist, I don't want a war with anyone. I don't care what people believe, if it helps them and they feel good about it.

I refuse to be controlled by any faith. Hell, I hate being controlled by laws I never had a say in, but that's life...
