  • Hey Guest,

Today, OFCOM launched an official investigation into Sanctioned Suicide under the UK’s Online Safety Act. This has already made headlines across the UK.

This is a clear and unprecedented overreach by a foreign regulator against a U.S.-based platform. We reject this interference and will be defending the site’s existence and mission.

In addition to our public response, we are currently seeking legal representation to ensure the best possible defense in this matter. If you are a lawyer or know of one who may be able to assist, please contact us at [email protected].

If your life was going well, do you think your views on suicide, generally, would change in any way?

Suffering erodes hope.
Without hope despair sets-in.
Despair leads to suicidal thoughts.

So, if you weren't suffering, do you think your perspective on suicide would change?

Nope. I wouldn't be here, but how I feel about the right to leave when you want doesn't change. It's a human rights thing…

My view on suicide would not change but I would not be suicidal.

one could say my life IS going well. the only two things going wrong truly in my life right now are that i have very few friends and am failing school. but i just got yet another promotion at work, i have a boyfriend (though things are a little rocky right now to be honest), i'm moving into a new place in a few months, i just paid off my car, and i have a very nice plan set out for the coming year. it's the little things that go wrong in my life that turn my mood in an instant

You'd be lying if you said you'd still want to die if your life was going well.

When life is going well it really is a heavenly place. And if it's going well in your own mind but you want to commit suicide? There's something chemically wrong with you.

Life should be peaceful. It should feel good. Neurochemically we were designed to enjoy life. But things have happened to the human species. Chemical imbalances occur due to toxicities, infections, nutritional/hormonal imbalances that lead to malfunctioning neurotransmitters.

Constant sadness is a disease whether it looks like it or not. The answer is absolutely not the fucking medications they give people for this. The answer is cleaning up the environment in the body which normally leads to cleaning up the brain.

I was too late. Antibiotic damage led to a deadly form of bacteria growing in my stomach. It lived there for nearly a year. The toxins said bacteria excreted are now killing me in the worst fashion. I am uncapable of doing all I note above. But I have done whist I wrote in the past from a less severe illness, and the results were fantastic. I truly loved life.

I think in my case, I would be suicidal no matter what happened. It is just the way I am. I simply do not want to live and I personally prefer the sound of non existence. I do not want to live in a world where there is so much pain and suffering that exists. Nothing would ever change my views on suicide. We all have the right to exit this world at a time of our own choosing and suicide is a personal choice. We have no obligations to stay alive as we did not ask to exist.

Whilst I don't want to die when things are going well, I still wish I had never begun to exist in the first place. Ultimately, life is pointless and we are just entertaining ourselves until we die. Having said that, I can persuade myself to give life meaning, which keeps suicidal thoughts at bay (most of the time).

Suicidal thoughts shouldn't be a thing. A malfunctioning human being has suicidal thoughts. A correctly functioning brain does what it can for the body to survive as long as possible. And enjoys the moment when it is not working on survival skills.

This is back to the hunter gatherer era 101. We should be built like our ancestors in this matter. But unfortunately things happen to humans.

The neurodegenerative disease, autism, depression, anxiety, chronic fatigue syndrome era is upon us. Something happened within the last 100 years specifically the last 50 that truly sparked it.

But it happened. And some of us in the back of our minds think life doesn't have to be an option. And suicide is always there to let us back out. But that's not how human beings were designed. It's a new thing that it's so common and half our population is taking and antidepressant trying to get out of that mindset.

I disagree, depression and being depressed is a perfectly normal, and reasonable response to trauma, and undesirable material circumstances. When someone dies, it is normal to feel depressed about it. When you're life is unhappy, it's natural to feel depressed.

I agree that medication is a lousy way to deal with it too. It's far better to address the material circumstances causing a person to be depressed, but most people don't do that. Indeed it is not always possible. If you are depressed because you have a soul crushing job and live in poverty, for example, that's not always so easy to fix despite the people who would say "just move, just get a different job". Sometimes we are trapped. I would expect someone to be depressed in that situation, I don't think that means they have a faulty brain. I think it makes them human.

Says who?
Humans are self-aware, conscious and capable of contemplating their existence. That fact alone is sufficient to ensure some will consider ending it.
