If I could choose where I was born, I would choose Norway. Emigrating there will be very difficult, and I don't know if it would be a good idea for me. Social connection is so important for one's well-being, and I am bad at it enough in my native tongue. If I could speak perfect Norsk, I'd leave in a heartbeat.

When I visited Oslo briefly as a student, I was shocked at how courteous and orderly people were there. I didn't actually get to do anything fun like I had planned. I was far too exhausted to do anything but walk back and forth between the conference and my hotel room due to my schoolwork, but I was really impressed by what I saw. The more I learn about the country and its government, the more interested I become.

The climate also appeals. I hate it here in FL, and I know I can handle winter from living elsewhere in *cough*better*cough* other states.

If you're from Norway, please feel free to burst my bubble, lol. This is just a fun little thread to daydream.

I want a second chance at life, if I could I would be either from the Suburbs of Prague or the German Speaking Parts of Switzerland, (Also Fribourg). I like Andorra also, but it's too isolated for me, very pretty though, nice language (Catalan), and very cheap.

I'm thinking about trying to move to either New Zealand or Australia, so I guess I'd choose either of those.

Hart Island, Australian Bay. Long story, a kind of silly promise with someone, but very important to me because of that one person I planned it with.

Norway - wealthy country with high-quality healthcare. But mostly because your nature, that vast wilderness in the north... You could probably walk alone for days...?

I've thought about moving there, but I worry I wouldn't be accepted. And maybe it's rude to bother people with yet another immigrant...

Yeah, I just got grilled by current residents on another website for posting about wanting to move there. The negativity was wild, and I was not left with the best impression. Encouragement was few and far between. I will say though that for all they called me naive, they have a very rosy view of the US. They're actually under the impression that their health system is not much better than ours. LOL As if. I have yet to hear of someone from Norway losing their house to pay their medical bills.

I can't really blame them. If I were Norwegian, I wouldn't want loads of people "invading" my country either. That bit about how they see the US is pretty interesting though. I feel like in most of Europe, the US isn't seen as a great place to live anymore. The healthcare system is one reason, and the crazy work culture is another - is it true there's no paid vacation by default? And of course, Trump and his weird politics make things feel really dangerous for someone from the outside.

No paid vacation. Yes, that is true. Trump's policies are not good for anyone here, native-born and White included, despite what many would have you believe. Every time someone says Trump is all talk, I would remind them of everything he has managed to push through since being elected. He has expressed interest repeatedly in arresting people he does not agree with, and he flippantly remarked that he would revoke Rosie O'Donnell's citizenship. She was born here. Her mother is American.

Again, people will say he is all talk. To them, I say 2016 called and would like its naivety back. The Department of "Justice" is already looking for ways to strip naturalized citizens of their citizenship. He and his cronies lie repeatedly about the people being detained being criminals. Investigations have found that the overwhelming majority have no criminal record.

Multiple academic experts on authoritarianism have already fled to Canada and say it is too late for the US. I watch my friends and neighbors in dismay. They really do not give a shit that he regularly breaks the law, has deployed the military in Los Angeles, and is the most corrupt administration we have ever had. The man takes millions of dollars in bribes and isn't shy about it. They don't care. When told the vice president follows and retweets white supremacists who deny the existence of the Holocaust, they just shrug.

Probably a weird place but Manchester UK. I'd love to live there. I dont think i ever can because of family responsiblites, expectations from my mother...but i wish i could. I've been "homesick" for it for ages or just to get away from where i am now...a thought for later. As soon as I can i will visit, even though it might make it worse because i saw it, i was there for a bit before having to leave again.

Maybe Norway or Switzerland. I used to have an online friend when I was younger, and we said we both would go visit Norway. It's a very beautiful country and so is Switzerland. But as long as there's not much people around and there's lots of nature I'll be happy

Deep South USA is so strange to me bc everyone makes up this lie that "southern hospitality" is a thing when it isn't. I'd way rather live up north like New England where it's safer and cleaner. I think the Norway sounds nice too. People are way nicer aren't they? Florida is like a boomer nightmare. Only people who like Florida are people who party or people who can't drive and talk about shooting people. My mom's friend said guys in her neighborhood were stocking up on guns to kill people if there was some kind of apocalypse scenario. That's so Florida but like I don't want to live around such a low trust society where people are waiting for the end of the world so they can kill people… I wish my mom never moved here but she's old so she's with her age bracket. It's miserable for me! I hate everyone here lol.
