So, in this hypothetical scenario, you'd essentially be dying from an accident. Think getting hit by a car and dying. But unlike actually getting in an actual car accident, you'd essentially feel little to no pain, similar to if you fell 200 meters onto solid concrete. But you don't know when or how it'll happen, only that it'll happen soon. Would you make that choice or is it important for you to die on your own terms?

It depends on how soon it happens, but yes. If it could be painless, or almost painless, that would be great. If I have to wait 5-10 years or more though, that would be too long.

Yeah I'd take it if it was soon enough + painless, I don't care too much about the precise-control aspect of suicide.

I definitely would because the only thing that has held me back from trying to fully CTB is the fact that the people that I love would know I truly wanted to die. They would feel like they could have prevented it. If it looks like a complete accident, then it wouldn't hurt as bad. They wouldn't know. Neither would I!

I definitely would. And if religion is actually right, I didn't die by suicide and won't spend my life in hell lol.

The idea of a swift painless death at the expense of not knowing the when and how, does sounds ideal and tempting but i believe there's a catch:

For me a peaceful death should not only involve the physical painless act but also a calm state of mind. i don't know if its a good example but such state of mind could be felt when someone has a ctb method figured out, even if its years before a date. somehow it does lift a weight. theres other examples of peace of mind regarding death

in my opinion such uncertainty from the moment taking the deal to the actual death, could be considered a slow painful dying process in its own, not physical sure but of the mind , SI would be kicking randomly for extended periods of time.

I would take the deal if death would come in 1 month, if more than that i'd think about a method of my own where there's compromise between peace of mind and physical act

what about you?

My ex died in a car accident a few months ago. We weren't really close at the time, we both had parted ways amicably. But I can't stop thinking about the fact that it was her and not me. She was brilliant, hardworking, and deserving of happiness and she's the one that's gone. And yet, here I still am. Every time I cross the street, I can't stop thinking what if it was me? Why wasn't it me?

The reason I asked was because I don't know if I could actively make this choice myself though. I still want to die on my own terms. There are a few things that I've listed over the course of a few years when my depression started getting out of hand; things I'll only do right before I go. But if I die tomorrow out of nowhere suddenly, and it's out of my hands, I don't think I would feel bad about it either to be honest

I see those who die in accidents as being fortunate especially if it's painless and they don't suffer in the process of dying. Of course I'd wish for that as after all we exist in a society where voluntary death is purposely made so inaccessible.

That would be ideal.

Not long before he was killed, Julius Caesar was reportedly asked "What is the best kind of death?" He replied without hesitation, "An unexpected one."

I would probably take the opportunity with 2 conditions:
-It would happen at least in a range of 5 years (too long to wait after that).
-Nobody other than me is harmed in the accident (I don't want to cause harm on somebody else).

Only with the condition that I'm the only one to die.

Just because I wish for death doesn't mean I would feel good dragging others to their death.

Erm- depends. Can it happen when I'm 90? I don't fancy waiting that long! If it's within a reasonsble amount of time then- very probably. I think family and friends would get over an accident easier than a suicide.

That's a good question. If I know it's coming eventually? Yes but I hope not too soon because I gotta write notes. If I'm not aware it'll happen? No I'll risk dying at my own hand to wish others a better life.

I would choose a car accident that happens by surprise or an incurable cancer that acts very quickly
