Well, this may have some unwanted consequences appearing in press. If most people use methods like SN, then it might be sold only if you have license.
As well as making the laws of possession more strict. It is okay when we are from different countries, but if we do that in the same place, it will attract too much attention. Only my assumptions, but I definitely do not want to reduce the amount of options for future generations.

Sort of out-of-context but I'm very afraid of what the government can do to me even if I have the best reasons in the world to reject my fate at their hands

(This isn't even an "anti-leftie" post, as many for-profit prisons essentially force you into doing slave labor in the US and some other Western, "capitalist" countries--although that's technically an off-shoot of the government)

I'm a little drunk rn but I'm just very scared and wonder even if I get a peaceful way out, will others be able to who also want to?

I sound like a child in some ways but I am pretty afraid

A world where you literally can't kill yourself and just have to accept everything sounds absolutely terrible

Sorry for being a downer

Some people will be fortunate enough and some shall not, sadly. It's just how it is right now in the world, the majority does not accept it as an acceptable choice. We are the lucky ones who are informed, are not impulsive (for the most part), and have a support system in place. What exactly are you worried about as far as the government doing, taking our methods away? Sorry, a bit confused.

Oh yeah, I totally agree. This is all fictional (RIGHT, guys? It's fiction), but we would still have to keep in mind of laws and such. I didn't mention press but definitely that too. And with SN being so unknown still outside of this forum I agree that it would give it coverage, therefore making the laws more strict.

I remember hearing about Jonestown some years ago when I wasn't suicidal.

I mean in the past ten years it was way easier to just purchase cyanide online

Now it's hard as shit and you need to prove it's for industrial use

The swath of painkillers or other opioids which could easily be used for suicide but can be tough to get a prescription for

Nembutal, famously

Even the rat poison alpha-chloralose is pretty quick and humane, almost like a quick hypothermia apparently (as opposed to the agonizing death that would come about through the blood-thinner type rat poisons common in America) is only available in other countries

Plus obviously guns are banned in many Western countries, such as England or Australia

Train suicides are increasingly discouraged (not a great thing to do a train conductor but a lot of people have no recourse), bridges have suicide nets (seems like a scary way to end your life anyway), and it's hard to get to the rooftops of buildings

On the other hand, I struggle whether I'm supposed to commit some agonizing method of death just so Sodium Nitrite isn't banned? Makes no sense

Maybe if someone in an even worse situation than me needed it but to be honest I'm not sure how much that would help

Banning suicide methods is plausibly okay in theory in some lights (not at all in my view) but gruesome in others

Yeah, there's restrictions on most things to some extent nowadays. :/ They are definitely trying they're hardest to crack down on it all.
Alpha-chloralose seems interesting, I am not very familiar with it though as I am from the US. It sounds much better than the blood-thinner types.
Guns or jumping off/in front of something doesn't sound like a good way to go at all, for many reasons.
There's always SN if you can't get N. It's hard to regulate as well because it has so many uses.

I'm sure they could restrict sodium nitrite if they wanted to

Guns on the contrary I feel like are (if fired correctly) an extremely quick and painless end to a harsh life

(Way too messy though--but perhaps less so than vomiting everywhere through something else)

I won't push that on you though

To me guns would just be a very comforting thing to have around

Would you join it? You choose the way you want to go.

And hell yes, I would join it.
This is such an interesting question . But yes to answer your question I'm pretty sure I would . Maybe I wouldn't feel so bad :/

They could restrict SN to some extent, but since it has so many known uses I believe that it would be hard to completely do so. Who knows though, anything could happen.

I like the idea of a gun, but ultimately I don't think I would have the guts to ctb with one. For me at least, there are just too many issues like getting a gun, making sure I did it right, and worrying about the person cleaning up afterwards that concerns me.

I'm a bit of a loner, pretty much actually, so suicide is somewhat personal to me and I'd feel more comfortable alone. But I do like the idea of this party, so I'm thinking why not have both? :smiling:

Could be something magical like suicide island, but really any secluded place would do where we could haul in supplies. Guns, poisons, ropes, gases, crafting materials, drugs, alcohol, food and drinks. We could have a huge campfire. A barbecue. Music. A friendly get together under the stars. Knowledgeable people could instruct others on how tos. No one would be forced to do anything. People could die in the arms of the like-minded. Others could slip away deep into the woods or mountains. Those who refrain for a while could check on others to make sure everything went well and no one suffered.

Maybe it's crazy, but sounds better to me than having one's life (and death) run by a bunch of hypocrites.

It would be interesting but I think I'd rather relax as best as I could before the grand finale.

@voyager Suicide Island sounds interesting. Why not add a Suicide Themepark? Price of admission: Your life. No refunds.

They'd have rollercoasters that decapitate you at the end of the ride, cotton candy laced with fentanyl, a haunted house with actors who'll jump out with real chainsaws. Chair swings that just launch you into oblivion.

Best part would be you wouldn't know when and how you'd die. The time and method would be randomly chosen so you'd have fun until the end. :haha:

I like the way you're thinking. We'll call it the "F LIFE!" bakery. Double meaning.

Now I'm hungry...

We need the member who posted that they inherited an astronomical amount of money and didn't know what to do with it. This might be a good investment. :pfff:

Easier said than done. Did you ever try and SI kicked in? I assume not having a method is even part of SI.
One tries one thing, chickens out and moves to another method, it is like some strange mental process that is going on.

Sorry, I should have been more specific. I meant a viable method (as in, one that I can actually carry out without SI or other such factors preventing it). There are probably a bunch of methods that I could do but SI prevents me from doing them.
