  • Hey Guest,

Today, OFCOM launched an official investigation into Sanctioned Suicide under the UK’s Online Safety Act. This has already made headlines across the UK.

This is a clear and unprecedented overreach by a foreign regulator against a U.S.-based platform. We reject this interference and will be defending the site’s existence and mission.

In addition to our public response, we are currently seeking legal representation to ensure the best possible defense in this matter. If you are a lawyer or know of one who may be able to assist, please contact us at [email protected].

I don't get this. If suicide is a permanent solution to a temporary problem, am I supposed to have a sudden change of heart? Do they want us to use temporary solutions for temporary problems? If so, then they really don't want us to solve our problems in the first place, rather, they would rather have us place metaphorical bandaids on our problems and never solve them in the first place. A permanent solution is not a bad thing like they think it is.
True. Are they against curing cancer? Would they rather treat it temporarily instead??

They mean that you're not going to live with these issues forever because you won't live forever, so you may as well make the best of life.
sorry, I don't understand what you mean. How is someone with permanent conditions not going to live until the end with them?

Because in their mind you're not going to live forever, so you won't have them forever even if they are with you until you die is my point.... (It's a technicality that they are preaching).

Ofc to us, these problems may as well be permanent and forever since our lives seem to drag on, but those that live in our shoes don't seem to understand that.

I... still don't get it, but I won't press it further.

I don't think that's necessarily so, although that's a valid argument against suicide. I think the people who say this really do think that everyone's problems can be worked through. They tend to be people who have never dealt with a lot of adversity or who have worked through their problems, leading them towards the arrogant and presumptuous notion of "if I can do it, you should be able to too."

I personally don't think that's a valid argument against suicide

I have two thoughts on this. 1. Most people are so genuinely stupid that they can't comprehend suicide or 2. They just don't want to face the reality.
Personally, I believe most people are good people and mean well, so I lean towards 1.
