& I've made excuses to be out for the day, I'll only have a few hours to attempt before people are suspicious. Do you think this could work, or should I wait and make an excuse to take a longer trip?

In a hotel, it would be some form of hanging, I think I would check into an adapted bathroom so as to have sturdy ligature points. IDK, other option at the moment seem to be finding a wooded location to ctb, but there's quite a high possibility of interruption there.

If you check in late at night when the staff is understaffed, the risk of being disturbed is significantly lower.

I'd wait until people expect me to be gone for weeks, not only for the day. If you still go with getting the hotel please please please dont forget to put do not disturb on the door, lol. (a friend of mine forgot to do that and he got saved)
