It doesn't, I guess when I tested it out a couple of weeks ago, someone liked my post just as I gave a like to see if it counted. That makes more sense.

what bothers me instead, is low effort posters who are trying to get their post count up, but have a really shitty post-to-reaction ratio when you look at it up close.

My ratio looks bad, but not bc of low effort posts. About 70% of my messages were posted in one of the game threads, which get little to no reaction at all.

If I write a message I do put some effort.

Here is what Alchemist said about the recent ban of @Baskol1 in the user discussion megathread. A shame nonetheless.

Normally this is not done but this is going going to be an exception to avoid some people blaming others and making pointless drama. I'll just say that it was a deserved ban for breaking rules multiple times and being toxic, racist, animal abuser, and homophobic. Nothing else will be said about the matter from this side.

I've pondered becoming a "liker" myself, honestly.
On occasion I'd check my alarms and see that they're blowing up. It felt... Kinda nice, you know? Especially in a place like this. On Facebook it's meaningless. It's a cold mechanic to see who's the viral person, the internet celebrity. SS feels more tight knit, like a massive family.
I remember reading on Reddit somebody describing us as "chronically depressed people supporting each other in a fucked up way", saying that despite the context it's "kind of wholesome".

Maybe we should ask for the removal of the like counter, some like Insta have already started. But just the likes count though, because I remember a time when you had to post to say thanks and threads were....:)
