• Hey Guest,

We wanted to share a quick update with the community.

Our public expense ledger is now live, allowing anyone to see how donations are used to support the ongoing operation of the site.

    👉 View the ledger here

Over the past year, increased regulatory pressure in multiple regions like UK OFCOM and Australia's eSafety has led to higher operational costs, including infrastructure, security, and the need to work with more specialized service providers to keep the site online and stable.

If you value the community and would like to help support its continued operation, donations are greatly appreciated. If you wish to donate via Bank Transfer or other options, please open a ticket.

what does an ideal community for you look like? (phisically or online) that would make this life more bearable

A ideal community is one that inherently understands what connects them above anything else.
Forming an inherent bond, with any further differences being second nature.
And quite frankly, this site is pretty close to that.
It is a place like no other. It's a space where thoughts and ideas can be spoken out that are taboo everywhere else, without judgement.
Because everyone knows what the underlying connection around here is.

A small self sustained community with no technology, no internet, no government.

Everybody helping improve the community on their own way. No concept of "weekends" neither "vacation", but also no exhausting daily work.

Everybody working together as needed to help maintain the community.

Get together at the end of the night around a bonfire and talk, share feelings, make up new stuff to have fun with each other.

No judgement, no luxury. Everybody sharing the same resources and caring for each other.

Mainly one where everyone is valued. No exclusions, no "hierarchy". The different roles that people would have would simply indicate their different responsibilities; not how valid someone's opinion is.

Just like how everyone is included, everyone takes equal part to work hard to make the community thrive.

You're sort of describing the Amish. I live in the Midwest. They are thriving. Numbers growing. Low rates of disease. I see them daily and think, they're right. There are so many things I our lives that stress us that they simply don't have.

Other people have already said stuff I agree with 100%, like NihilDoll, BrokenByTheSystem, Rihan, etc.

I will offer something a bit out of left field. But I think the authors you read could be like a... personal community in your mind? Their words of wisdom, funny or comforting stories... I do read a lot, so this might not work for everyone (or perhaps you would have to do it with other people, such as musicians or something).

But yeah, my mind tends to be full of a little community of authors and some of my favorite characters. I pretend that they are real in a metaphorical sense. And no, I don't always agree with them and we have our differences. They don't always agree with each other either.

I understand that this is not as practical, nor is it in any way tangible in the sense of an *actual* community. Like I said, it's a bit out of left field, and I mainly offer it because others have said what I otherwise would've said, and better than I probably could've. Think of it more as a supplemental kind of thing, a place one can retreat to from the real world every now and again. One can fill their solitude with some friends, should they wish.

The real world is ugly enough as it is, and—"surprise"—I struggle with my mental health as well. So there are some areas in my mind where I manage to put in effort to make them look nice, how I wish the real world would be. Classical architecture and art, or a fantasy world, or my weeb otaku concept of a Shinto shrine. Whatever or wherever it is, I use my imagination and turn some of the headspace into a beautiful, idealized place to be in my mind, populated with writers or characters whom I like.

Okay, I admit, it's imaginary friends with extra steps lol.

I wish I had the chance to live a life like that. But I'm too far from such things.

Here we have something called "intentional communities" that live a life more or less like that.

But again, it's hard to find it, and even harder for them to accept you.

They make it very clear that ideology must match to avoid conflicts inside the community.

I don't blame them, I think ideology is an important thing, a community can't live in harmony if people keep disagreeing and arguing every day.

I don't believe that could exist. As much a a Eutpoia would be a dream, where we all shared the wealth There is too much greed. Too much imbalance.and too many of us unable to contribute sadly.
I really struggle with my mental health and I'm often awake at 3/4 am, i know when my neighbours leave for work so on my better days I deice their cars or in the summer i take care of their lawns
there is such a lack of community spirit it's a real shame.
It's seldom I have the energy recently but it's my way of giving something back and feeling like less of a burden on society.
I think being selfless and the best version of yourself is the most you can expect of your self is more than anyone expects in return
I think it's important to just be the best version of you that you can be when you're able to be.
Someday your might be useless and stuck in bed, the next you might be manic and helping others instead,
You make friends along the way. And it's someone you can call on if youre struggling some days
what does an ideal community for you look like? (phisically or online) that would make this life more bearable
Can I ask what would make it better for you?

i didn't said what it would look like to me because in my mind i was wrong multiple times already, i'm a big believer that people hardly know what they really want("If I had asked people what they wanted, they would have said faster horses" and when i say people, this is projection).
i once thought that if i'd live in a small community without much modernity i would be happier, or in a society that lives in the obsession of science and expanding its power to survive across the universe..
but thats just not me of today, the me today has its experiences and its vices that may not be much malleable

my motivation of creating this post, is to know where to go, i'm lost like i always were, and an "ideal comunity" can have the power to draw the picture of your ideal daily life. A North, a goal to be daily checked to see if i'm going to the right direction
But yeah, my mind tends to be full of a little community of authors and some of my favorite characters. I pretend that they are real in a metaphorical sense. And no, I don't always agree with them and we have our differences. They don't always agree with each other either.
you're my favorite answer, you're the gnosis of this imaginary world for me, i may see you there someday ;)
