maybe what i'll say would be stupid cause i'm feeling low right now, but i think that humanity should just stop making babies. like it's just continuing the miserable cycle of being human, with all the evil, corruption and death all over the globe
every generation makes the planet more and more inhabitable to live with the pollution, it's pretty much impossible to fix that issue because of our greedy nature anyway
maybe i'm just being stupid, maybe but in my opinion, to get rid of all future problems just fuck with a condom or plan b

Me too. I would end the very concept of having children.

However, there is an issue, for every one of us there are multiple people who do want to live.

So we cannot decide for them that want to be born either that they should not be born?

Welcome to antinatalism. No matter what happens people who suffer like us will exist and be created more and more. Procreating new people doesn't actually benefit the person being brought to this world as they before being brought here they didn't desire life at all and being alive means you are at the risk of harm so they have the potential to suffer more than feel good about life. So many of us are forced here to suffer against our will just cus some people wanted to selfishly have children to fulfill their desires or cus its seen as normal in society. To me a world with no live is better than a world where some have to suffer so much.

i fucking hate that some people will birth kids just so someone would take care of them by gaslighting them with "all the time they took care of them" or whatever shit, like yea i'm so glad that my only purpose was just being a future servant for you when you will grow old and i have to suffer for years and years, or those who do "for their legacy to still be present"

Those people were good people who took care of their guardians when they became old or upheld their parent's legacy after their death. The only problem is that they expect the same to for their successor.

So we cannot decide for them that want to be born either that they should not be born?

Are we capable of 'wanting to be born' when we don't exist? I suppose it depends on belief really... Maybe there is a whole waiting room of souls, bored out their 'brains' thinking- I do hope some couple f*cks soon so I can experience life!

It's not my belief personally. Life at very best seems like an experiement to me- where good things could well happen but also, catastrophically bad things too. Seeing as I don't personally believe we're capable of yearning to be born or, feeling regret that we weren't- when we don't exist, it seems safer to me to not expose a sentient and vulnerable being to such risk.

There are so many things in this world that we simply can't protect one another from. Even the best parent in the world can't protect their child from suffering to some extent.

Plus, it seems the most environmentally conscious and kind thing to do is to not bring another consumer and polluter here. The average meat eatet consumes 7,000 animals in their lifetime. The average (US) human generates 102 tons of trash in a lifetime.

Imagine how many millions of animals I've saved because I haven't had children and, my children won't have children etc. etc. My children would very likely be too stupid to fix the world's problems too. It's better my (unhelpful, creative) genes die with me.

I actually like to think of my would-be children safe and unborn and away from harm. I truly believe I've done 'them' a favour. If being a good parent is protecting your children from harm, the antinatilist, childless are the best parents in the world.

What about the people who manage to thrive? Are their lives not worth it? I am certainly not thriving, but I acknowledge that some people do and it seems worth it to them. Many people are happy to be born. That matters to me and I hope I can get there someday too.

I agree with all of that myself but the problem is we'd be making decisions for everyone if we choose a blanket ban and that's an issue.

I have friends who love life as well. if they had to choose they would choose to be born so a decision either way is wrong.

at least stringent checks for parents is important. if I could implement that I would.

they should be financially capable. not have any violent history, or disorders. they should have a plan for the child's development and be able to spend time with them, child should be screened in the foetus stage for any issues, etc

I chose not to have children myself. I also wish I hadn't been born either.

You'd be surprised. There are several people with children already plus people planning to have children. I have seen the posts.

I agree with limited aspects of anti-natalism but overall feel it's a movement looking for a clear black and white wrong in a very gray space (life and existence).

Whether procreation is "moral" is incredibly subjective and almost solely influenced by your personal life experiences. There's no objective argument that can be made.

I think anti-natalism would be a moot point if assisted suicide was considered a basic human right.

Hah, you're right, there are a few of these very perplexing posts every now again. I don't think there is anything wrong with having had kids before you became suicidal, though. It's not like anyone could have foreseen or imagined that they would end up like this.

I agree. A forced ban would be met with outrage. I just wish people thought about the implications more carefully.

Nothing gets better, education, laws, healthcare, jobs, enviorement and so on.

Is gonna be a cyccle of survival and rince and repeat so doesnt really humans are screwed.

I realized this generation are more sensitive than paper (not all of em tho) but now if gou cut someone off in a road they just shoot you now so.
