That is so cool! What do you do in the sport? What do you do the rest of the year to keep in practice? And do you socialize with others in the group? how many are there? Team work must be really exciting when you perform. And kind of scary, in a good way.

Oh wow. It's been a minute since I thought about DCI. I used to draw drill and uniforms in my notebook in high school haha. Do you play an instrument? Do color guard?

basically, you move in your corps to practice. after training for a few weeks, youre off on the road to tour across america, going thru entirely the cycle of bus ride > sleeping in gym floors > practice > compete. and i mean compete... competitions are judged by a panel, where different areas get rated out of 100. they're mostly focused on how together and similar ("clean") everyone is. its hard work! personally im in the front ensemble, so an extra duty i have is loading/unloading equipment into a semitruck for transport. everyone gets pretty close usually, because spending an entire summer living with a group of people typically brings you a lot closer haha. theres a whole bunch of separate corps, some are open class and some are world class. you can find a full list on the dci website! its really something special to work together with a team, all united working for perfection.
as for the rest of the year... a lot of people face that issue LOL. most people have instruments at home, or at colleges (everyone in the activity is under 22 and most are in education). there's also WGI, which is similar to DCI, except it takes place in the winter and is only percussion. personally i've also performed in this circuit.
this might be a lot of words! sorry, im just that passionate! thanks for your interest!
