The reality is that it takes multiple hours and who knows how much of it you're really unconscious for? It sounds like a really fucking awful death to me and I think the people on here promoting it acting like they're informed deserve to go to hell for the pain that they're causing these people.

Tbh the reason that SN seems like a good method to me is that if it fails then there won't be any permanent damage.

All other methods, even if the chance for failure is lower, you can completely mutilate yourself or cause brain damage.

This is my big reason I'm going to try SN first. I don't want to become a vegetable if I fail.

Anyone who has gone through a survival type situation will tell you that they have very limited/no recollection of what happened.

Same here. Not even on my top 10 list of preferences. Fasting, a shitload of prescription meds required during preparation and finally the grand finale, with zero guarantee. Not worth it.

they all describe passing out very quickly after it takes effect, and then waking up in the hospital

meaning they were unconscious

theres nothing to remember if you're unconscious

if your body is "fighting for its life" while your unconscious, you still arent feeling anything, because you're unconsious. if you commited a hanging, past out, your body will fight against it, your unconscious, theres nothing to feel

Having sources of people getting brain damage from failed CO/hanging or mutilation from jumping/cutting/gun.

Also, having testimonies from people who have failed on here say that they had no permanent damage once they woke up makes me put SN higher up on the list for me for preferred methods.

Your reluctance is fine due to people saying it can take up to an hour to lose consciousness. But overall SN does seem like a safer option when it comes to the outcomes when you fail.

I'm terrified of drinking it as well. On the one hand, my life is terrible, every day is torture and the only solution is to die because things won't get better. On the other hand, I'm scared of not losing consciousness, choking, and generally failing and ending up with permanent damage. If there's one thing I learned is that things can always get worse and I'm scared that they will.

Science. There's literally a ton of published documentation on official governmental medical journals regarding SN poisoning (fatalities and survival accounts)

I'd highly suggest you search "sodium nitrite poisoning" for yourself, because it's always better to do your own research then to simply believe what strangers post on a public forum, but seeing as you probably haven't had a chance to research anything yet (you joined less than 2 weeks ago) I'll list you an actual publication (extract) to get you started.

Although methemoglobin levels of >70% are generally fatal, patients with methemoglobin levels of up to 94% have survived. On the other hand, methemoglobin levels of 20%–50% may cause symptoms such as respiratory distress, dizziness, headache, and fatigue. Furthermore, loss of consciousness and death can occur at methemoglobin levels of 50%–70%

In this report, we describe the successful treatment of a case of severe methemoglobinemia due to sodium nitrite poisoning.

A 28-year-old man was brought to our emergency department because of transient loss of consciousness and cyanosis. He was initially treated with 100% oxygen, gastric lavage, and activated charcoal administration.

The patient was immediately given 150 mg methylene blue (2 mg/kg body weight) intravenously over 5 min only at one time. He regained consciousness, and cyanosis resolved within minutes after methylene blue injection; methemoglobin concentration decreased to 19% after 60 min.

On the second day of admission, the patient was extubated. He then recalled intentionally ingesting approximately 15 g sodium nitrite about 1 hour before ambulance call.

The patient was transferred to the general ward and was subsequently discharged on day 7 without neurologic impairment.
