After reading this thread, I kinda agree with the other posters. I think the average lifespan is supposed to be around 40 or so. Your health and body really starts to deotriate rapdily around that age. Also, once you get your late 20s or so, you can tell that your health/immune system/etc isn't as good as it used to be. Living to 50/60/70 really doesen't sound fun at all. I'd rather CTB than reach old age.

I'd be dead by now. F*ck.

I live near a "world-renowned medical research facility" and their employee shuttle vans are emblazoned with adverts about how they are working on reversing the aging process. JUST STOP IT.

For most of human history, people didn't live past 40. Sometimes I think, humans weren't designed to live past 40 because if we were designed to live past 40, our bodies wouldn't just deteriorate so rapidly.
Like the mind is just not meant to handle it

Plus, older you get, you watch other people die in your life, that's why you feel all alone. When I see kids in my neighborhood, I get jealous they are young and carefree. They don't know everyone dies, lol

this number already excluded the many people that died at birth

physical and intellectual prime gets reached between 20-25

funny how we spend most of our life in physical decay

no thank you..i have really zero intention to get old
I read somewhere (scientific proof, right?) that once you made it past your early 20s, your odds of longevity jumped dramatically. Given the ridiculous infant mortality rates, many adults lasted into their 60s or 70s. If you trust the Bible, some people made it to 900. I don't trust the Bible for shit, but there you go.

There were still lots of unpleasant ways to get run over by the bus (vicious predators, mild infections, the common cold), but 40 was surprisingly young for people who made it to adulthood. It's just that nobody made it to adulthood. And even if you did, it would suck to get old surrounded by all those 18-year-olds who didn't want to fuck you.

But at least your teeth would be in good shape.

I'm surprised you mentioned seeing people around you die first, sorry if you've had losses

Why? I have experienced loosing many people, and animals as well. It's hard for me to want to meet more people cuz they will die or I will die, lol, I don't think it's normal for people to feel this way, but I'm too much of an empath

if you dont have a family/children to care/provide for with 30+ there is not really much left to do at this age

except watching your own physical decay from the first row

I'm currently watching a family member go through the process of deteriorating, and it is awful. I certainly don't want to reach the point that they have, although it is due to other factors such as lifestyle habits, it is absolutely horrifying to see this going on.

I study health and social care, the first thing they taught us was 'human lifespan development'. You reach your peak at the age of 25 and from the age of 28 you begin to slowly decline. By the time you're about 45 (sometimes beforehand) you're noticeably ageing. There's also the menopause which to me is a pretty huge indicator that your body isn't supposed to be functioning that long. It's essentially just a few years of suffering with mood swings and other symptoms and I'd rather completely avoid that. Not to mention developing diseases like dementia and arthritis, which can happen from the age of 50 if you're unlucky. I can't imagine anything worse than dementia. Years of suffering and forgetting myself and everyone around me, and the suffering that would cause for my family when I forget them until I'm shoved into a care home till I die. Certainly not how anyone should live.
