Too many people have too much to lose if others believed suicide is acceptable. Governments would lose their livestock--tax payers. Corporations would lose their beasts of burden--relatively low-paid drone workers. Society would loose its untouchables--the humans who die slowly and out of sight doing all the crap no one wants to do but which make others' lives more comfortable. Militaries would their cannon fodder--the people blown up in politicians' wars. Religions would lose their tax-free dividends--those they first terrify then offer ... hope to in exchange for money and services. And the gods of our cultures, the celebrities and athletes..., would lose their worshippers--the people they pay others to shove out of their way so long as we keep feeding their egos and bank accounts.
Nope, can't have the plebes thinking suicide can be a rational choice.
Nicely put. Not to mention the mental health industry would fall apart. With their abysmal track-record and damaging pseudo-treatments who would bear a life of mental suffering when there was a quick and legal exit?
"those they first terrify then offer ... hope to in exchange for money and services." That pretty much describes psychiatry which to me is nothing but a secular religion: first they terrify people by telling they have a terrible disease of the mind then they offer a solution which is of course nothing more than a placebo so the sheep keep coming back wanting, actually wanting to be fleeced.
There is no real treatment for mental suffering besides numbing agents, spirituality (which may very well be a placebo and an illusion aswell but usually perfectly harmless), time, change and death.
Of course if psychiatry would ever present death as a solution they would quickly be out of business. Hence the incessant, baseless claim that suicidal ideation is part of depression: as if a possible solution to one's problems can ever be the problem in and of itself.
They actually present the case that there's a mysterious force that wants to kill you from within... We have turned full circle: mental illnesses = possession by evil spirits. Psychopathology is a pseudoscience and the successor of demonology. On this front we've returned to the dark ages.
'Mental health' is nothing more than being productive, consuming, paying taxes and being content enough with one's lot to go to work the next day, consume, pay taxes etcetera. Life is but an endless stream of buying things, worry, toil and trouble repeated ad nauseam untill one is no longer useful economicaly and fiscally at which point one may, if lucky, be allowed to die humanely. But not before, oh no!
If you want out it will be through agony and horror: that is what society wants for those who have the gall to want to escape the materialistic and hedonistic paradise society deems itself. Which is why they hate us, want to imprison us, abuse and take away the means to live or die freely. If they can't physically restrain us they want us to suffer horrendously before succumbing to death or even better fail and end up disfigured or handicapped so they can show us to the world as a terrifying warning of what happens to those that want to escape.
