You have to work a minimum of 40 hours to live. And that's only if you get paid enough. I get paid $12 an hour working 40 a week and it's not enough to live. 8 hours a day is your whole entire day. That's 5 days a week you can't do anything but work, go home, shower eat and sleep. Then the 2 days you have off you are so exhausted from work you don't want to go anywhere or do anything. And it just repeats. Work isn't even enjoyable. Why did we accept this as a society? Surely no one is enjoying this? Not to be political but we could have a government that gives every person money just for existing. Why is working so hard until you're on your death bed more appealing than that? The thought of that makes me severely suicidal. I want to live without worrying about money and just have fun doing whatever I want. But I never will be able to.

Plus I don't see why I was born, I don't have a purpose on earth. And if that's my purpose, I sure as hell don't wanna be here.

Most of society is in your financial situation. Sadly, most people are grateful to have that 'job' even if they never amount to anything.

My lowest point I worked in a factory making $9/hr when I was 18 and there were people making that at 40yrs old.. I told the supervisor $9 is nothing I wanted more and they laughed, now I make $35/hr.

My best advice is stay away from people who are happy 'settling'. Hopefully, this inspires you to get away from the negative environment.

I had a pretty decent job before all this (I'm in a mental hospital) got around 1200 a month but that was working 40+ hour weeks
Got my first round of sick pay yesterday, 600+. Why on earth would I ever go back? Can't lie was a very nice surprise I expected something in the vein of 200

Anyway, I know right. I was always in the mind of work for what you have, earn it, deserve it, etc etc, but, why. That's the question I'm asking now, just, why?

Ohh boy howdy,. I could write a Fckn novel on how much I hate working and everything about it.

I am greatful for my job ... To a small extent of whatever;. But that doesn't mean Jackshitt when I walk into that absolute toxic shithole of a job every damn morning. Makes me wanna tell em' to all go fuck themselves and walk out the door to go blow my brains out in the parking lot out of an extreme spite / hatred of resentments.

Truly losing all hope as the days go by,. I don't know what I'm doing anymore. FML -

One of the most disillusioning things I've experienced is how making more money quickly stopped impacting my happiness. I still maintain that the stress of not being able to pay a bill is absolutely soul crushing, and my life is markedly better without it. Even having left that anxiety behind, I still wound up on this board with you all. 40 hours a week at a job that's frustrating and passionless. Toxic environment, extremely homophobic (and bigoted in general) coworkers. I can't keep doing this. Vacations are never enough. Weekends are never enough. Time between shifts, lunch breaks, slow periods in the day… None of it is enough. I live to work and work to live. I'm completely empty.

Life is very unfair as humans are forced to exist and they have all these pressures and expectations placed on them. People suffer for decades for the sake of it just to die eventually. I do not see a point to any of this. Humans are just slaves to the society.

To me, life is extremely unnecessary, we were all perfectly fine not existing until we were forced to live. It is horrible how it is so difficult to leave this world and it is cruel to deny people a peaceful exit. I know that for many working can send them into despair and I understand that it can be unbearable living a life that you hate.

I agree. Most of your day is spent doing something that you generally don't like, surrounded by people you don't like either. What's the point? Slave to the system. Ideally, there would be no monetary system and we would all have the same. However, those 1%'ers are the ones with the power and they won't give that up. I'm not afraid of hard work, but it's not exactly fulfilling, or my life's ambition!! Just think how much better things would be if there was no money and we could all find our own purpose e.g. artist, musician, engineer, scientist. The ability to try new and different things when we wanted. The ability to be on our own or with however many people we wanted; when we wanted. That would help make life a bit less difficult!!!!

This is the main reason for me deciding to CTB. Fuck this system they have in place that enslaves us. It leads most people now days to only live paycheck to paycheck with how our current economy is at least here in the US. Housing costs are through the roof. Living in general is becoming too expensive. How the fuck are we supposed to save money for emergencies if we can barely afford to get by? Not to mention once you can no longer provide labour to the system aka you get hurt or sick you're fucked especially here in America. Medical bills send you soaring into debt. It could possibly lead to homelessness. This place feels like a prison. I'm going to escape soon.

So much of life just seems like it's busy work, it's either you're wasting your time at your actual job or you're wasting time learning something you won't need in school, and both occupy most, if not all, of your day.

Yup. Tired of this bullshit rat race. And unfortunately our human bodies will, probably, unfortunately never get to see the day we ever "break out" of this fucked up and horrible system. Our generations will never see it. Might as well click "skip preview" and blow my fuckin brains out

Holy shit that's a lot of hours! Just working 40 hours with occasional overtime is enough to suck the life out of me, so I can't imagine working 60 or more on a regular basis.

It sucks living in a society where most people live like ants inside an anthill, and the poor and disabled get punished for not being exploitable. It's enough to make me want to go on my "camping trip" early.

Tbh I feel the same. It's exhausting to live in twisted, clown, sick, shitty, pointless dog-eat-dog world. There're unnecessary competition aka rat race, big guys who only want you to work your ass off until you die, so what's the point? Is there any destination? I don't think so.

The UK just copies the American system as much as it can, it's crap for many people on this tiny expensive island. The whole system is designed to make the psychopathic people at the top filthy rich.

a coworker told me she worked from 10 am to 10 pm Monday to Saturday and her boss was still an asshole who complained if she took a few minutes to chat with her friends on cell phone. She told me about it so matter-of-factly as if this is right and fair and I just couldn't process how she can take this abuse and accept it so easily.
If I had to work like this I would have killed myself in the first week.
I'm almost going crazy working 45 hours a week and seriously thinking about crippling myself so I don't have to work in that hell anymore

sometimes I ask my co-workers what situation they prefer to live in, in an apocalyptic world full of bloodthirsty monsters which they would have to kill almost every day to survive or in society the way they live nowadays working all day to earn a misery. Almost all of them respond that they prefer the first option, which demonstrates how hellish our society is, that even an apocalypse seems like heaven.

I'm so sick of working. It uses up what precious little energy I have, and for what?

To vent a little, I had to call in sick for the first time since I started my job (7 yrs ago) and they didn't even give me a paid sick day for it. Only a 4-5 hour shift, that's not much to ask for, right? And yet.

The people I work with are nice, and the actual job is quiet, but niceness only goes so far. Kindness cannot be traded for cash - maybe that's why I'm always broke.

I just got paid and I'll only have about $50 till next paycheck after rent. Life is hell.

Work makes me want to ctb, but it also keeps me alive because work keeps me distracted from preparing for ctb. It takes a lot of time to research ctb methods, get the equipment, then mentally prepare for it so I can actually go through with it. So I need to save up a lot of money first so I can stop having work pressuring me every damn day. Then I will take a vacation and get into the ctb mindset.
