Story I feel more connected and compassionate towards people on this site than people in my every day life

Discussions we have here also seem more open-minded than discussions and comment wars on sites like like Facebook or YouTube. Nobody changes their mind in those threads, while people here are open to criticism and new ideas and facts. People in real life I meet seem judgmental so I have a hard time feeling connected to them or fully compassionate.

Same here. This feels like a safe space for me. On reddit, I'd need a throwaway if I needed to post how I truly felt on subreddits. But here it's detached. It's nice, I hope this place never goes, because then I'll have absolutely nowhere to vent.
