A girlfriend won't necessarily change your suicidal intentions, honestly in many cases it just makes it worse when you break up or she maybe changes her personality so much you wont even recognize the person you loved anymore. I never understood the desire for a relationship, it feels like a prison to me.

You can say what you want, but a good portion of the people are here primarily or partially due to loneliness, lacking a romantic partner, or being in something like a failing marriage~ Once they get a romantic partner, they get noticeably happier and stop contemplating sewer slide as much~
For myself, due to some very unfortunate circumstances, barring a miracle, my ideations would likely continue unfortunately~ :(

Its probably because of my autism that makes understanding this need for relationships so hard. I never had intense emotions besides fear and shame.

I'm autistic too and have some similar ideas. I agree that it can make it worse when you break up, but I feel so madly envious of people who are in relationships or just have to simply exist and be asked out by someone. The lack of a relationship makes your self-worth issues so much worse. It's really difficult to love yourself if you've never experienced love from another person. For me, it's not even love necessarily, just any kind of desire from another person that I want so that I can tell myself that someone at some point liked me and that I don't feel completely worthless and alone. A cast out, ostracized from society. That's how I think a lot of people feel when they don't have a relationship and why it eats away at them so much.
